As far as I am concerned there is absolutely no SENSIBLE argument for riding a motorcycle . I already had a passion for exploring the countryside on a bicycle when I was about eight so later on when a mate let me have a go on his dad's Step-through ( Moped ) I was hooked . The rest is history . Back in the day , you didn't do CBT . You just had a go on a mate's bike in a car park until you could change gear a bit and then you bought a leather jacket from a market stall and bought the first bike you could afford . This is actually my second bike . Much as I agree with this - I ride motorbikes because I enjoy riding motorbikes, I have to say that my first motorized two wheeler was bought purely for sensible reasons. I was offered a job that needed me to get in and out of Liverpool city centre several times a day often during rush hour. My wife needed the car and we couldn't afford another car. So I bought a little CG125 and learnt to ride on tyres permanently soaked in diesel. It was the sensible and economical choice. Which is why I then bought a CB500 'cos it was faster but still immensely practical. And now I ride a Triumph Bobber which is - well not very practical at all. But the grin factor outweighs all else. So there is a sensible reason to ride a motorcycle, but it's much more fun when you stop being sensible. 1 Quote
