Dans34321 Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Hi all, - I'm in need of some help diagnosing and fixing a problem on a 56'gsr600 Figured you ask the experts and join the fourm The bike has a rough idle, fair bit of white exhaust smoke even after being warmed up, also there is a knocking noise coming from the front end of the engine. I can hear it over my rather loud exhaust. - it speeds up with the engine and slows down with the engine as well. Bike rides fine, seemingly no loss in power - bit the knocking is loud enough that it's caught my attention. Like its under the front of the tank? Anyway suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read/reply. Cheers Dan Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 How are oil and coolant levels? Is it losing either? Get hold of a mechanic's stethoscope, they're cheap and the best way to track down noises. It will enable you to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. Under the front of the tank suggests top end noise which could be valve train or cam related. But noises can travel so it's best to check properly. Quote
Dans34321 Posted December 14, 2021 Author Posted December 14, 2021 Haven't had the chance to check, bit will do in the next day or so, have also ordered a mechanics stethoscope due tomorrow. Hopefully it's not an expensive problem -christmas coming and all lol - will reply here when I know more, thank you for taking the time to reply - it's much appreciated! Quote
