RooStu Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 Hi all As the title suggests really. It starts fine and everything but when you twist the throttle it'll just die. It splutters a bit and power just goes. It did it once a month or so ago and I though I was imagining it or made a mistake somehow but more recently there was no question as I was due to be somewhere in the morning and barely made it 10m before it did it in a big way. Since then I've not wanted to take it out so it's been sat with the local bike shop patiently waiting to be seen by it's mechanic which seems to have taken forever due to a rush of other local riders needing work done. She's done 17.5k (16.5k under me as my work bike doing Deliveroo etc.) A little late for her service, last one at 12k. I'm not that familiar with bikes and this is my first so you'll have to forgive me if I don't understand a lot of bike terminology. Just wondering if anyone had the same and if you got it fixed. I saw in a related post that someone suggested the 'wire to the spark plug' may have gotten wet? Mine was stolen and recovered last year and they tore a hole in it around the ignition to try to start it. It's since sat patched up with gaffer tape but wondered if rain could have gotten in somewhere it shouldn't if the panels hadn't been ripped apart and were still perfectly aligned. Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted January 22, 2022 Posted January 22, 2022 It could be as simple as routine service items such as spark plug or air filter. Weak ignition or an over rich mixture might cause it to die on throttle. If it's in the workshop I'd leave it until they can take a look at it. Any chance the fuel is contaminated? Quote
