Admin Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 The Super73-C1X Concept. Production is expected to begin late 2023. (Super73/) When it comes to blending motorcycle and ebike cultures, few companies are pulling it off as well as Super73. Over the last few years, the simple BMX-inspired line of ebikes has grown into a full range of two-wheeled fun machines, including collaborations with known moto names like Indian Motorcycle and Roland Sands Design. But with the announcement of the new C1X Concept, Super73 is entering the electric motorcycle space and giving its loyal customers the next level to graduate to within the brand. With 15-inch wheels, the C1X is smaller than most common motorcycles. (Super73/) As the all-new Super73-C1X is currently just a concept, numbers for range and top speed are really just targets the company hopes to reach with its production motorcycle. Those targets are a top speed of over 75 mph and an in-city range of more than 100 miles. Super73 claims that the concept will introduce a fast-charging solution that will reach 80-percent charge in less than an hour. Super73’s trademark BMX styling is still apparent in many of the design details. (Super73/) The C1X has a bit of a 390 Duke feel with its minimal streetfighter aesthetic, but it’s small—even smaller than the 390. Research from Super73′s design team showed that reducing the bike’s “overall footprint” would make it more accessible to core Super73 customers. This research results in the C1X’s 51-inch wheelbase and 15-inch wheels—both numbers about 2 inches shorter than we’re used to seeing in the streetfighter or naked sportbike genres. For reference, a 2020 KTM 390 Duke has a wheelbase of 53.4 inches and a 2022 BMW G 310 R, 54.3. ODI handlebars and Frando levers on the Super73-C1X electric motorcycle concept. (Super73/) This news has promise because of the brand it’s coming from, but we’ve learned to take electric motorcycle concepts and manufacturing plans with a grain of salt—a lot can change in the year and a half from now until the planned start of production. We can think of more than a few electric motorcycles that should be on the market now but have hit unforeseen roadblocks. Inverted WP fork on the Super73-C1X concept. (Super73/) Super73 is now accepting a $73 deposit for the customer-facing C1X, which is expected to begin production in late 2023. Along with this announcement, Super73 pulled the curtain back on a new line of kids bikes, the new R Brooklyn, and the Z Miami, details on all of which can be found on our electric-mobility sister site Cycle Volta. Rearset foot controls and a beefy-looking swingarm on Super73’s C1X electric motorcycle concept. (Super73/) It wouldn’t be a Super73 without some fun little details thrown in.
