Honda clr 125 engine stopping at idle

My bike sometimes, mainly on longer rides, cuts out at traffic lights. when this happens there is also a bad almost burning smell after the ride. Not sure if it’s the engine overheating or if the idle is too fast? Also experienced a knocking sound after a long ride today, returned to normal a couple hours later.

Have you checked your oil level?

 

What does the "burning smell" of? .. oil? rubber? plastic?

The burning smell could easily be the road shite thats about at the moment

I think it smells like burning oil, definitely coming from the engine, very potent strong smell, and yes oil level is good
