Hi guys. I have recently bought the bike in the title and I already have and issue. When i test drove the bike the back brake only worked slightly. I said to the guy and he said they are all pretty crap on the aprilia's. Bike passed a MOT that day and I purchased it the next day.

On the way home the rear brake completly stopped working. When I got home I only had a limited amount of tools so I quickly cranked open the bleed valve to see if there was some trapped air. A little bit of fluid came out then just air. Later grabbed some tools to get the fluid res open and it was empty. It looked full on the outside. (lesson learned) Topped up and tried to bleed but nothing. I can hear some air coming out but I was there for ages and nothing.

It was getting late so I needed to get the bike in the garage. started it up and tried to push it forward as i needed to turn around and it wouldn't move. As if the fronts had locked up. It moved in gear but wouldn't in neutral. turned bike off, had a look around a bit then tried moving it and it was fine. Drove short distance to the garage and could feel the brakes binding on again.

Have I air locked the abs pump possibly or could there be other issues here. thanks.

Woke up at about 5.30am and remembered I dropped the bike in my driveway! 🤦🏻‍♂️ let it down as softly as I could when I realised it was going. So I’m guessing that has something to do with the brakes on the front.

May be a modulation valve problem.  Is the ABS light lit on the dash.  If not, is there a bulb in it?

I would need to check to be 100% certain but I can’t recall the light being on. But the light does illuminate when turning ignition to on.
There is an ABS switch that I have pushed when I took it for a test drive. didn’t appear to do anything though.

Problem solved!!! I was being a complete retard!

hand guard was catching the brake lever so not letting it fully open. 🤣

And the rubber bung in the res. Which I thought was just a seal as it wouldn’t budge. Created a seal so no fluid could pass through into the brake lines! 💩

Its amazing what you do differently when you’re not running around late at night trying to do several things at once!
