skimming an xlr 125 cylinder head

does anyone know if its possible to skim the head on my 99 xlr 125 to raise the compression and possibly get a little raise in power?

not sure on the restricted bit but it/was/will be running a free flowing filter,less restrictive exhaust.it just wasnt the greatest powered bike before but it'd be nice to get the most out of it 8-)

A skim will make the motor feel a bit crisper, both by increasing the compression, and tightening up the squish area, BUT, will it lead to mechanical interference??

This is where you are joining the world of engine improvers, and thus have to take each action seriously?

You need a dry build to measure head/piston/valve clearances.

You need to assess if the camchain tensioner has enough capacity to cope with the increased camchain slack.

Only then can you decide if its possible.

Worth looking tho.

cheers buddy, a dry build is on the cards as the bike is still in bits awaiting the eventual rebuild ive got plenty of spares engine wise and can easily get more motors (cheap as chips) it would just be nice to have a little more poke when its back on the black again
