if the seals are worn (sagged), nicked or out of place when a vacuum/ draw it can pull and cover the exit area including diaphragms, seals, pipes and taps.

No mention of the choke?

My carbbed  R1 will not start from cold if the choke isn’t set right for the ambient and engine temperature.

Well this time it's a happy post !! 

 

10£ fuel tap repair kit from amazon and we are back in business , dosnt need choke to start and rides better than when I first bought it 

 

Appreciate all thr advice from everyone as its all now I'm my knowledge bank!!

Only just seen this. Hurray. 

 

I knew it'd be a fuelling issue given the other things you'd tested already. 

 

A can of easy start often rules out compression and spark and leaves lack of fuel to be the issue.
