Does anyone know if it matters what side fork tubes should be fitted on a 1996 Honda CG125? One of the tubes has a wee ring and is slightly tapered at the top and is also about 5mm longer. Does it matter which side it is fitted on?

Thank you for the reply. The interesting thing is, I actually have 2 sets of forks (both stripped down but kept in their pairs) and they both have different tubes.

I have attached a photo this time.17175316103767655688402650154284.thumb.jpg.53d6d228b7868370d2fd4cab16cd0d8f.jpg

yep they should be the same but looks like the plain one on top (with the groove) is original or at least the closes to the correct one, the other is not.

not to say it wont do the job, just they will be visually and potentially behave slightly differently but these are old school forks so alot needs to be different to be noticeable, depending on the inside machining and dimensions might be just the same.

ohhh or have they fitted the santion the wrong way round?

I honestly think the tubes are original. As I said, I have a set from another CG125 which are also different (they are scrap unfortunately). You can't really fit them upside down as the bolts are different. I bought a set of Chinese copies but I would have no confidence in them. They weigh about half the weight of the originals.
