Buffs.....advice

Recommended Posts

looking for a buff. Looked at the ride magazine and they looked at various ones. I have picked two out of the list which i like.

The

I-NEK Summer ( http://www.inter-bike.co.uk/inter-bikes ... name=i-NEK%Summer%Neck%Warmer%%-Urban%CAmo )

and Oxford Comfy (http://www.oxprod.com/index.php?pg=3&ac ... pid=160&p=) the one on the left in the picture .

I dont know which one to get. The I-NEK is cheaper than the comfy but the comfy comes with 3 buffs which i dont think i really need. I like the camo ones not the ordinary black ones

I also spotted the I-NEK Winter ( http://www.inter-bike.co.uk/inter-bikes ... name=i-NEK%Winter%Neck%Warmer%with%Thin%Over%Head%Section%-%Urban%CAmo ) but wondered if was much different (apart from the price?

Advice please

Thanks!

don't know about the i-nek but heard the oxfords are good, comfy and soft. three might not be a bad idea - wash one, wear one, spare one?

i use Buff buffs and got three for same reason. they're very good btw but more expensive. hth :D

and i think some on here use cold killers?

I have a buff and several oxford comfies.

I bought the buff first and then got the others afterwards because they're cheaper, for washing/spares/girlfriend etc, and they often come free with anything you buy from oxford.

When handling it to comparethen just now, the buff seems to be softer and maybe thicker. It's hard to describe but almost like the difference between some thin soft cotton (buff) and very thin denim (comfy).

They are the same size, buff is reversable, comfy has print/pattern on one side only.

I don't notice a difference bewteen them when I wear them, but I always wear a balaclava, so the tube is just for extra draft exclusion/warmth around the neck. Either that or I would have to wear two, one on the head and one around the neck.

Try eBay, there's a lot of them unbranded and cheap, plenty of dpm/camo.

I use a thin balaclava I got from somewhere a while back for pretty cheap (I don't remember exactly but ~£5-ish). It keeps the wind off of my neck and makes it easy to put my helmet on - I doubt I would use a thicker one. As Parapan said, it is nice if it is long enough to be versatile like a balaclava. I use mine sometimes just as a neck warmer, sometime over my head but under my chin, sometimes like a bandito mask, etc.

I have a polar buff, which has a fleecy neck section and normal head section.

Have found it excellent.

I also have just a normal one for when the warmer weather comes in (and not soon enough bbrrrrrr )

I got them from buffwear.com

i cant recommend Buff enough, i use them for mountin biking, motorbiking and all sorts of stuff in between.

the main difference is the buff is made out of a more quality material hence the price, iv had a few of the comfy oxford ones as well but they dont seem to last as long and loose there elasticity much quicker than the Buff.

certainly with regards to the buff your paying money for something that will make your riding more comfortable so id always pay just a few pounds more and go buff, just my opinion.

Sam, don't you have a Spider-man helmet? If that is you (and I'm not mistaking you for someone else) then I suggest one of these.

I have two of these, black one and this one. They're great, really comfy. :D

They do loads of designs which include camouflage ones, but Spider-man is much cooler. :D

EDIT: Looks like people have already suggested the above but I'm still recommending them. :P
