it might not be a straight fit, but could be worked around.. ask to see a pic of the back and does it come with mounting bracket, that can be redrilled or manipulated (bent) to work, as long as its has a cable operated speedo and rev counter , the same as yours, the wiring for the lights can be easily sorted too,

the only time i don't see it working is when going from a cable to an electrical input for speedo/tacho...or vice versa

If you have any problems, give me a shout, i've done this before..

Posted (edited)

on my bike the headlamp holds all the connectors inside it for the main of the electrics.. soo i gtta take theheadlamp off to get access to the connectors..

to takethe headlamp off i gotta take the front indicaors off as they screw into it and hold it on and in place.. (done)

seems like a hard job jst to change the speedo... so there is probably a easier way.. the bulbs ffor the speedo.. can i not jst take them out of one.. and put it in the other.. thus using the same electrics already there? or do i have to change it all!?

but then i got another problem which i will deal with when i get to it about the ignition (asi want to use the new one as its bettr)

any ideas?!

so the bolt has been undone most of the way? or won't undo at all?

if most of the way, is anything stopping it ? the indicator wires?

here's how i've done it in the past...

take off headlamp glass and remove.

Undo bolt that holds headlamp to brackets

turn headlight brackets out of the way.

and let headlight bowl hang..

will be held in limbo by the wiring loom inside..

then undo the knurled ends of the speedo and tacho cable..

undo the nuts holding the clocks cover,

then undo the nuts holding clocks to bracket..

lift off clocks, leaving the idiot bulbs in place (Indicator,/ Neutral / oil / high beam and clock lights)

the healdlamp only holds by the indicators no other bracket, etc.

i managed to sort this but its still not enough to take the whole indicator to a position where i can see the electrics unless i take the headlamp apart itself from head on...

i edited my previous post as i waasnt expectin such a quick reply can u answer tht one pls franky sorry to make it confusin

i'm on my lunch break, so playing on here..

why do you need to get at the electrics, you might be able to push your original idiot lights into the holes on the new clocks.

if you are changing the ignition, then find the block connector inside the headlamp, and plug into that and check that it works. you don't want to fit it and get all done to find it is U/S..

taking connectors out of the headlamp is a PITA as is getting them back in again.. just try and remove the ones you need to change..

i don't get how your headlight is held by the indicators and not some form of bracketry?

mine have brackets that fit the forks and the induicators bolt into them as seen on my pic below..

ill try that then :-) ive made a mess out of it hehe

good news is i have recieved mty throttle cable today too :D

il take a pic of the headlamp for ya so u can see :)

your headlamp is held by the indicators attached to the headlamp bowl, mine are set slightly further back, the brackets are what the indicator goes through before the headlamp (chrome thingy) had a look at your pic in post 1

don't take all the wiring out....

take off the headlamp glass, and look for connectors that are empty, then turn on your ignition and indicator and watch while you try each one until correct, you will run out of empties as you find safes.. oh, and normally they are colour co-ordinated i.e green to green,... hope this helps..

changing your ignition may mean you have to keep 2 keys, ignition and fuel tank/seat (or helmet) lock.. just make sure your dad makes very good solder connections as otherwise you could be up a creek without a paddle if one works loose...
