Hi all, I have a 1999 Suzuki Intruder (only a 125 :crybaby: ) I was just wondering if it would be possible to fit a fuel guage to it. It does'nt have one at all at the moment, Basicaly my question is, Is it possible to get one fitted? will this cost me an arm and a leg? could i do it myself with limited engineering knowledge? What is the wing speed velocity of a sparrow?

Thanks in advance for any help guys!!!

I would have thought its a lot of mither, does it not have a trip guage, because thats how most of us tell if theres enough fuel left

It does have a trip but i cant figure it out, i have my total milage at 16520 and above it it says "ODO" and i cant get it to change to say how many miles ive done since filling up, I obviously pressed the re-set button but that does nothing. Suppose ill get the old manual out when i get back from work an have a good look.

You usually press the button to reset (yours might have broke) or sometimes you turn them.

Its definatley a press button, must be broke. Are they hard to fix/replace? dont want to get caught out on a ride espessialy now the sun is out and i might get a bit more adventureous and head further away from home! ill have a good look tonight and if i cant get it workin then ill get it into a garage an see how much itll cost to fix.

Thanks for the help mate!

Is it digital ?

have you pressed it long enough ?

you can have a fuel gauge fitted but it aint worth the effort mate..does it not have a low fuel warning on it ?

Posted

Yes it is digital, it has no warning at all, ill try pressin it for longer and see if that works. As ive said im stuck in work till 4 today so i won't know till i get in!

It'll probably be tricky to fix, maybe easier buying a new one from a scrap yard (hopefully with less miles on :D )

Thats what i have been doing, Lol. I tried pressing the button down for different times but still no joy, It just says "OdO above the milege! could it be a simple electrical fault? I have a 2 month warranty on the bike so i could always ride upto the garage and aske em if they can sort it out for me! Only problem is its in macclesfield an i dont know how to get there without goin on motorways!

Don't people know how to use maps now a days? I know I use a GPS but it's not too hard to get a map and highlighter pen a route to somewhere. Stick it in a tank bag and you're sorted. Or use a GPS (Avoid Highways) option.

Its called Ace Motorcycles in Macclesfield, I could probably get myself there its just a good hour away from chester on roads that i dont know. I'm probably just bein a fanny.

I would like to fix it myself if it would be possible, Much prefer doin that sort of stuff myself. Will a haynes manual tell me what i nedd to know or is this something i need to get done in a garage?

I've bought most of my bikes from Bob at Ace, know him 20 odd years now. You should take it back, to see what he says. He's always been superb when I've had a problem with a bike.

To get from Chester its really easy.

Surely you mean swallow, in which case..."African or European?"

Yeah i spoke to Bob a few times when i bought the bike and it wouldnt start, He put me in touch with a guy called Will who used to work for him who then came to my house to get it started for free! They have been really good and i am more than happy with the service ive had from em!

I've got some funny stories about Will, but I think I'd get banned if I put them on TMBF
