Guest Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Hi all i bought a Suzuki 1988 GSX 400 from a bloke off ebay, and its got got a few holes in the exhaust, and the gaskets where exhuast goes to engine are broke, and you can feel air coming out Well ive been riding round on it round my villiage (bet neighbours love me) and up and down the bypass, and it seems that when it gets warmed up after about 15mins that it stalls when i havent got any throttle on, but its fine when its not warm What im asking is that will the likely problem with stalling when warm be down to the exhaust blowing? Reason i asked is that i really dont want to spend money getting exhuast fixed to find out i have to scrap the bike Cheers Craig Quote
Pete Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Hi Craig!I don't think it'll be to do with the zorst. More like a fueling problem or the air filter. If it's anything like mt GSX600f the air filter can be checked by removing the tank, tank support bracket and then just unscrew the air filter to have a look. Carbs could also be gummed up if it's an older bike and may benefit from a clean, but seems weird that it only happens when warm...Frankie will be here soon to shed some light on it I'm sure!I had the exhaust off my GSXf the other day (can and link pipe, kept downpipes on), made a flipping sweet noise! Nearly made my brain dribble out my ears which was surprisingly nice But it ran fine, no stalling which is what makes me think your zorst isn't the problem... Quote

kja.busa Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Why are you even riding it if you know the exhaust is knackered and in need of repair? Is there any wonder the bike doesn't run properly? Quote
Guest Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Moved to Pitstop section.... you can pop a post in Newbies to say hello if u wanna! Quote
Guest Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 tape up the holes with metal tape and then find the problem, i'm with SuzukiPetes, check the airfilter, and gives the carbs a clean..if its only when its warm is the choke operating properly, could be on, so starving the bike when warm..once you've found it, give some fresh oil, and get that zorst sorted proper..
