  1. I was asking if maybe a wire was stuck/trapped by accident between metal parts and the metal may have cut through the wire without you noticing. You may have a connection the wrong way around?
  2. Wow, many, many thanks to you all for your time to reply, lots of info there @RideWithStyles it's much appreciated. I've got a load from when I was a computer hardware engineer and worked in datacentres. Thanks again folks.
  3. Until I put my deposit down a few weeks ago, and then started looking at all things bike, I'd never heard of anyone using ear plugs. I was thinking, "why on earth wear ear plugs, just enjoy the sound of the bike, and also, also, surely it'll be be safer if you can hear other road users?". Well, where did all that freaking wind noise come from? Even at 60Mph. I don't remember that at all. I'm now considering ear plugs, but at the same time, I want comm's in the summer.
  4. Hey guys, some very valid points made there. To (unknowingly) qualify the points made, I did loosen my trousers around the hips before my ride yesterday morning. Whilst it wasn't -1, it was still 4-6 drgrees. I did this because I thought being tight around the hips was reducing circulation, but of course, it would have been compressing the lining. It also made for a lot more comfort. As well as this, I put my boots on whilst sitting on a chair instead of standing, this meant everything was in the right place for riding, including how the trousers were strapped (Velcro) around the boot. Had a great ride for an hour.
  5. I went out this morning, it was 6 degrees and I never noticed the cold at all, but yes, if I start riding in weather any colder than that, I'll make a decent investment in thicker trousers. I must admit, I thought the £100 I paid for my trousers was a lot but looking around, they're "cheap". As said above, probably just need a decent thermal bare layer.
  6. It may be the connection itself, or, did you trap a wire and cut through during the install?
  7. Whaaaaaaaat, that's awful.
  8. I'd go with the£156 quote. Although it's just a couple of hours, it's 1/2 a day, or even a whole day that the transporter has to put to one side to do the job.
  9. Having just failed to zip my new jacket and trousers together, they're different brands, this is a good Idea. Thanks guys.
  10. Bulbs... Got my first bike in over 20 years home in the dark, and it was dismal. So, new pair of Halfords H4 150% brighter, and LED side light bulbs. Wow, what a difference! Also replaced a bulb in the speedo as I struggled to see the lower numbers, actually thought I was doing 60, but it turned out to be 25 (it's been a while)
  11. But I said coccyx, not c*ck....
  12. I like to zip. Prevention of road-rash on the coccyx if I accidentally dismount, and it's more comfy than feeling like I'm not quite dressed properly. I imagine if you're sat upright, the comfort thing isn't so obvious compared to reaching forward with the jacket riding up?
  13. Could you find out who manufactures the OEM? They're not likely to be made by Triumph, maybe it's known brand.
  14. That's cool, I have found a hand made leather looking polymer one, but it's £175. Thermals will be better value.
  15. Aha, right. Many, many thanks good people. I was wearing some FLM lined, windproof and waterproof trousers, but that's all. I was obviously, very much underestimating what I needed. Very pleased with the second hand Bering armoured textile jacket. That has a removable inner jacket too, and only £50 from eBay. Gloves were great too.
  16. I appreciate it's three years later, but do you still have any left?
  17. Although I now have a bike, we're pretty much "in the same boat". Good luck going forward.
  18. No, it's not a dodgy pervy post (sorry). Having not ridden for over twenty years, I collected my bike late Wednesday afternoon. It was dark, the roads were greasy and the temperature was -1. So, to the point, I had the odd part of me get cold, but it soon went, apart from where my legs were wrapped around the tank, my thighs got quite cold. Obviously from the contact with the cold tank, which was full of cold petrol. Can anyone recommend a "winter(?)" tank cover? Would it make a difference? Part of me thinks I'm really not likely to be riding in such cold conditions, so I shouldn't bother, but, just a though. Cheers Simon
  19. This is the same a keeping a reef tank, the mantra is: "they were on offer darling, only £75".. Problem is, when you have a few grands worth of gear, she/he then thinks it's only worth a few hundred.
  20. It's everything though, everything I just bought to start riding again, have to have the mahoosive size. Wonder how genuinely big people get by.
  21. I had the opposite problem, if I managed to get a foot in the boot, it was sooooo narrow. Just used my BKS Storm for the first time. It was -1 and they were great, so comfy and warm.
  22. Learned my first lesson coming back to motorcycling. Don't bother ordering boots, jackets, gloves, helmets or trousers online, the designers all seem to share the same tiny little tape measures.. I've gone from size 11 boots to size 13, medium helmet to XXL, and basically up two sizes in everything else. Thankfully Sportsbikeshop were good with refunds. Maybe I need to eat less pies
  23. Plans are a few days away in the UK now and again (for now anyhoo). But I'm already daydreaming about touring the south of France and Italy.
  24. Cheers
  25. Love that. Awesome!!
