  1. Im half asian so If I don't follow my code of honour my mother might crucify me.
  2. Yeah I am thinking of wearing it under my moto jacket. My jacket has no warm lining or anything like that. I currently wear a merino long sleeve top and then a merino rollneck over that under my moto jacket. I was just thinking if it gets wet a buffalo might come in handy. But yes I will probably sweat more than a pedo outside a primary school. I will keep that in mind haha.
  3. 200 a month for insurance ?!? I am on a 125 and pay 70, I think you might just live in a not so good area haha. I am in a similar situation as you, 19, A2 with a year of NCB. Ive been quoted £1100 for a year for a ktm adventure 790 for third party only. I don't have too much experience with this however I have a mate the same age with A2 and a year of NCB. He has a Dual Sport, suzuki I think? thats 400cc. Was quoted something like £500 a year for third party and fire and theft. If insurance is the trouble than maybe a dual sport is the way to go despite the fact they are the ugliest bikes ever.
  4. Hi all Got a 14 day planned trip in september coming up. Luggage is obviously a big part of it and very important however I don't feel like dropping £1000 on a mosko moto tailbag and pannier luggage. I do however because of climbing have an extensive range of high performance duffel bags from Ortlieb. I don't mind spending a bit of money but steep figures are obviously not ideal. Has anyone jerry rigged duffel bags, tents, dry bags etc onto their bikes and if so how did you do it and did they perform. Just getting your thoughts on this. Cheers
  5. And also of course a pump, I am assuming a normal push-bike pump won't suffice, any tips for that would also be great.
  6. Hi guys. Heads up I am an absolute newbie to adventure biking and will be heading out to Europe for two weeks as a little trip. Hence in need of advice I was thinking that we could all compile some of the stuff we carry in our tool bags for long trips. Since I am fairly oblivious but keen to learn I have the following things in my tool kit. It obviously needs some work so any advice of what you guys carry so the newbies on the forum like me can get an idea of what is necessary and what isn't. 1. Leatherman wave + extra screwdriver + alankey bits 2. bacon strips for plugging tires (Works on mountain bikes but on motorbikes?) 3. Duct tape 4. WD40 4. Samurai sword (obviously) I know this list obviously needs more stuff so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Thanks for all the tips guys, and @curlylegendalthough that would definitely be an adventure, I wouldn't want to get jumped by a bunch of angry bearded Harley riders haha. Has anyone ever used a buffalo shirt for riding? its a pile jacket that even when it gets wet will still insulate you. I know the military guys use it a lot and winter hikers. I am just thinking that this might simplify layering and stuff.
  8. Hi guys, During September I am planning on getting myself a Royal Enfield Himalayan and doing a trip around europe. I am a complete newbie to adventure biking so I am hoping to get some tips. Any tips you guys have I would appreciate. I do however have a lot of camping and mountaineering experience if that helps to translate across to long trips. Primarily just wondering what distances should I be looking at for each day. I can comfortably ride from Oxford to Sheffield but I am just wondering from your experience what is the best distance to go through with. Plus as a climber I do love a good bit of kit so if you have any equipment tips then that would be great.
  9. Hi all Ive had my 2015 yamaha mt125 for about a year now, I just passed my A2 license so looking to upgrade as soon as I get my no claims which is next month. However the display is ruined. The best I can describe it is that when I turn the keys, information lights up fine, fuel gauge works, neutral light etc. But as soon as I introduce power it goes completely blank. Occasionally the display will stay lit but will completely freeze and display "130" mph for example, a bit of a glitch. Did some research online, checked all the connections, grounding etc and it seems that I need a new display as this is irreversable, however new displays cost around £500 and £300 used. I don't really fancy dropping this money on a bike I am going to sell in a few weeks, I just need the display to work for the mot. I did notice on Ebay though that I can buy the yamaha wr125 display for something like £30, the connection plug seems to be the same. I can also get a 2020 mt125 display for a reasonable price. I am just wondering if I can buy one of these plug it into my bike and it will work? Any suggestions please ask. And any other solutions would be greatly appreciated.
