  1. OK this is a copy and paste from my thread.. But as this is the members test experiences here it is So, just home from my MOD1 in Taunton. Got to the test center early, and saw a fair few other bikers there doing tests I think some were doing their MOD2's. At the time of my MOD1 there were two of us, I went first. Had a little chat in the office, checked through all the paper work, panic'd thinking I'd bought in my car theory test and not my motorbike one luckily I had the right one. So to start I rode in to the parking bay, was shaking so the manual handling of the bike was 'interesting' but fine, I didn't drop it nor overbalance it. Then the slalom and figure of 8, I was told to do two figure of 8's, I did three, the first one was a bit wobbly, I was nervous about that! Then all was fine. Slow ride, easy peasy no issues there, nice and slow around 3-4mph stopped fine, I thought I'd stopped a little far back (or was that on the controlled stop). U turn, I was fine with, I do them all the time to get onto my drive, although I wasn't dead straight. Talking to myself the whole way through, mirror, mirror, shoulder, shoulder... Shoulder, turn.. Thought I'd hit the white line, but all clear. Controlled stop was probably the easiest nice wide area to get comfortable going at a bit of speed, and casual ride down, although I did have 2 ducks/birds of some description trying to get in the way! Still all went well.. Emergency stop, I thought I'd been a bit late in stopping I didn't start as soon as his hand went up, no wobble on stopping and the left foot went down so nice and easy there. Swerve test, now all my practice was too the right (I did do some left circuits and each time I was under) today I was a bit under the first time I tried it, 45kph, second try dead on 50kph. Service to say, I passed with one minor! yay for me..

  3. Well had two lessons in the end (test is on weds) because I completelly fudged up my first lesson, fell over twice - lack of clutch control and use of rear break. So had another lesson yesterday.. Was doing really poorly on the figure of 8, way too wide etc. The instructor took me through with my as pillion. Finally did the figure of 8 happy, sat doing that for a good 10-15 mins before moving on to the u-turn, u turn was fine, I do u turns all the time though to get onto my parking spot (facing the right way to get out lol) Swerve test, the first couple I was a tiny bit under speed, but all was fine.. Emergency stop I went a bit too fast the first go (60kmp) but stopped fine. So after work today, I am going to put out the cones and just ride around them a bit ready for tomorrows test! I have to remember all of my lifesavers for the u-turn, as on a couple of my practices I forgot them, which I never do on the road, but alas, it is what it is. So yes, tomorrow is my MOD1 wish me luck
  4. Thanks everyone! I hope it goes ok, I've got issues with my hearing and thus balance at the moment, so nervous.. Having my lesson Thursday so will see how my balance is then, if it's a bit all over the place I'll try and book in for another lesson in between or just practice on my motorbike.. MOD2 should be easier for sure, can't wait for it all to be done I'm doing it with Durston Elms near Taunton
  5. So... I've been fairly inactive (sorry!) recently.. But I am finally 24 so I can now do my direct access! win Had my first lesson the day after my birthday (what an awesome present to myself) my instructor thinks I only need 2 3 hour lessons, one for the MOD1 and 1 for the MOD2.. I guess after 7 years of riding and 7 years no claims on my insurance shows that I am indeed a good rider Anyway, my MOD1 is booked for the 30th April at 10:10am in Taunton.. Haven't booked the MOD2 yet, will be doing that when I've passed the MOD1 (just in case lol) Super excited. Doing it on a kawasaki ER6, which surprisingly for me, is nice to ride.. I'm slightly on the short side for it, so on tip toes touching the ground, but I surprised my instructor, I overbalanced at the test center when we rode down, and I managed to pull myself back upright without any issues luckily the bike is fairly light.. Really cannot wait to pass my test and get a better bike.
  6. I'll be practising in westonzoyland airfield when I get a chance to go over.. Once I get my bike fixed.. My main riding was fine, slow and such not so fine grr! oh well, practice makes perfect..
  7. So, did my 4th CBT yesterday.. Had so many issues with my bike during the off road stuff.. Luckily my instructor knows I can ride. Need to get a new spark plug, gah. So, on the road, my riding was filmed so I could pick up what I need to improve on. Did the Taunton - Minehead test route.. Need to be sure of the dual carriageway, very late breaking for joining on, for some reason I thought I was going into the dual carriageway without having to stop/give way, oops!.. I keep forgetting to turn of my damn indicator, only seems to happen when I indicate left.. no idea why so I need to keep a close eye on that. Need to keep my back break covered, or front, when waiting at traffic lights. That's pretty much my only problem. Anyway, I managed to do a u-turn fine, no issues, figure of 8 needs work and so does my slow control... Need to work on my hand coordination with clutch and throttle.. but getting there.. Oh and I need to be giving life savers more often. oops!
  8. 5'3" so pretty short lol.. On my cruiser I can't get my feet flat, which is fine, but its light haha..
  9. Heya, am the same age as you, and I'm doing the A2 license for now then the A next year.. I'm doing this because of size differences and weight differences, and I've been riding now for 7 years and am pretty fed up with it.. I'd personally rather get used to a bigger bike on the roads in general before doing my A license.. no idea if that helps as it's not directly answering your question but either way I hope it does
  10. Passed my theory today!! going to book my MOD1 after my CBT on saturday - cause my instructor wants to see what bike will be good for me to ride.. Damn short arse xD..
  11. yeah A2, I could wait until next April and do the A license, but I am fed up of being on a 125 now, 6 years of 125s gets boring lol.. Yeah wish I had access to a bigger bike to practice on, but it shouldn't be too different, I have had a ride on a 500cc and that went well, I was a bit unsure at first, but I was also sitting in a different position.. Thanks for the reply
  12. yay on no left u turns! that makes sense! Thank you for letting me know all the things I'll have to do, going to have a practice today with my bike I can handle my bike well manually, but its only a 125 so.. but if I can do all the other things on my bike I'll be able to do it on theirs. Not sure what bike Ill be using, I'll have a word when I book in/go in for my CBT. Looking forward to it. Let us know when you book in! what bike are you thinking of eventually getting?
  13. So... I've got my motorbike theory booked for next week, passed my car theory last week so not worried about the bike.. Stupid CBT's, after riding 7 years and having 7 years no claims I feel I have earned the right to just be handed the mod 1 xD.. But alas.. I need this, going to practice my swerves and emergency stops over the next few days, got this silly long bike which I detest trying to do things on, cause its damn heavy when you fall over, ended up with a huge bruise on my thigh from falling over when I first got her. Also need to remember to do all my life savers, so every time I go for a ride going to do that. Gonna do the mod 1 on their bike, purely because my bike will be a bitch to do u-turns on, I've tried and I nearly always have to put my foot out and I cant do u turns to the left, so going to practice that also. Random Q, for the MOD 1, do we go on the road? I know my instructor is pretty much going to put me through all the MOD 1 things when I go to do my CBT, he did last time and told me he wouldn't put me through another CBT haha, but I have been busy the last couple years, what with university. I need to loose all my bad habits.. ooh this is going to be my first CBT on a motorbike, all the others were on my mopeds.. should be interesting.. Pretty sure I can handle it though.. Just hope I don't forget where the back break is, happens sometimes when I get nervous/panic attack.. Anyway, any tips please? PS, sorry for my absence, I'm not just using you all for hints and tips, just finished uni 23 days ago and have been super busy organising my life haha..
  14. whats wrong with Bristol I love this city I have, I managed to get her running, got lost trying to get to north bristol (from another part of north bristol) and ended up in the city centre haha! I'm useless at directions it was supposed to be a 15 min ride, ended up being an hour. Anyway, got to my friends and they checked the battery (with this little thing that clips on, not a charger?) and when the engine was off, it was flashing orange, engine on and it was flashing red. So the problem is the battery for sure, need to get a new one, as after an hour running it had barely charged although the electric start did manage to work just. Going to try riding her daily just so she doesn't get any worse until I can figure out which battery it is I need! Thank you everyone
  15. I was going towards the speed camera, don't have number plate on the front of motorbikes.. not sure the light did flash, or if he just saw that there was a camera and decided to slow down. but if it did, he deserved it, he'd been riding my ass for about 5 miles..
  16. I didn't no.
  17. My 'nob of the day' is actually quite old, from when I was about 18, on a FYM (yeah I love the foreign imports... ) 125, I had some mid life crisis bloke in a Ferrari riding my ass I was doing the speed limit of 40mh and going towards a speed camera, I decided to speed up and went through the camera at about 60 and from what I can gather the light flashed cause the bloke was doing same speed as me, then he suddenly slowed right down after the camera xD..
  18. Well I just started her again, and she started fine on kick start, electric start still being a douche but hey ho... Just noticed, the neutral light goes out when I try using the electric start, so not sure whats happening.. She sat running for 5 mins absolutley fine.. so I'm going to ride her upto sainsburys and put some petrol in (she has plenty but no where else I can think to ride her..) Thanks everyone.. Still going to look at the battery and connections just don't really know what I'm looking at.. heh.. anyone in Bristol fancy being super helpful and showing me the basics of what I need to know haha!! Thanks again all, Meg

  20. Haha, thanks every one, I shall see what I can do.. The bikes been fine mostly, had a hissy fit when I bought her to Bristol though, but she didn't have oil then.. Thanks for all the tips
  21. I manages to start her to get her to her keeping place, but she wasn't happy.. Pretty sure it isn't the battery.. The choke sticks on, but that's never stopped her starting..
  22. The lights worked fine.. bah stupid bike.. I did try checking for loose connections, but I don't know what I am looking at. And I'm not gonna ignore you, you're more knowledgeable than I am xD... Thanks everyone, I shall update once the battery has been charged
  23. how do you bump start a bike? run with it and keep trying to start it? I'll try that when I can get a friend to give me a hand (don't want to drop her).. Left her sitting for a 10 days max. She's been left sitting for longer over the winter without being started and was fine. Tango, thank you I will try that soon as my mum comes by with a battery charger on weds..
  24. hmm, would charging the battery possibly fix it? aha I don't know much about bikes
  25. Lol, I shall do that
