  1. Right, that's it. I'm getting an early run up for permission next week.
  2. Nah, I've got a fridge and freezer and they've been going for years. Probably should clean them one of these days.
  3. Went to start up the ZX6r this morning and got cliiiiiiick. Bosch batteries are shite - less than a year old with a full charge less than a weeks ago... If Halfords weren't giving me a perpetual new battery I could get quite annoyed!
  4. 'Fraid I'm stuck in with the OH this eve. Plus my battery was flat this morn...
  5. f**k it. I was a bit slow off the blocks booking up Cadwell for Friday and now they're sold out.
  6. Hey man. I know you said fuel pees out if you open up the drain but have you checked the fuel level in the bowl? Connect up some clear tube to the drain and hold it up alongside the carb. Turn on the fuel and open the drain to see where the level comes - most carbs have some sort of mark to show where it should be. If it's off then adjust the float height. Wouldn't needle height be more mid range - 5-7k area? I'd be looking more at the mixture screw or idle circuit on the carb. What happens if you spray a bit of carb cleaner in to the mouth of the carb and kick it over?
  7. Going to do a couple of hundred miles on the PR4 tomorrow - probably in the wet so standby for an update...
  8. You can probably remove it as a complete unit in theory - whether it crumbles to dust or not is another matter! I used to use caustic soda solution back in the days of 2 strokes to get all the crap off the inside and out but would recommend the universal wonderment of carb cleaner if you want to give it a spruce up without risking disintigration.
  9. I guess we'll have to wait and see eh... Funny you mention the BT-020 Fozzie, I've heard that the front can be a bit skittish... The thing is that I would have probably gone straight for Bridgestone again if I hadn't have acidentally ended up with Pirelli on the ZXR and realised that compared to those, the Bridgestones are a bit pants.
  10. About time! Wish you could try before you buy...
  11. Have you tried spraying some carb cleaner round the inlet rubbers while it's running? It does sound like something carby is blocked.fuel starvation or the timing is a bit iffy.
  12. Well there is but it's just the release agent from the mould. I'm sure I've seen some data that suggests that a softish break in conditions the rubber and gives marginally better performance/wear or something*. *Could be bollocks I know what you mean about the pricing - These have set me back £280 a set. I ummed and arred for ages about life vs grip vs price blah, blah, blah and decided that if I don't try them then I'll never know! If i get on with them then it's money well spent and if I don't then there'll soon be an ad in the "for sale" section and I'll grab some Sportmax, BT-016 or something .
  13. Well 'ta for the info again everyone - I ordered some PR4 wubber wings which should arrive tomorrow. Just got to jack it up and take the wheels off this eve...
  14. Cheers guys, you're pretty much echoing what the shop guy said. I think the price difference between the 3 and 4 is 30-50 quid a pair.

    fork seals

To be fair, it would have to be a very determined bit of grit to get past the dust seal and wedge itself in the oil seal. For a fiver it's worth a punt but be prepared to whip the forks out and change the seals over. It's not a huge or expensive job, just takes a while first time round.
  16. You are of course correct EAB - the chances of me being that aggressive in the wet are quite slim. I was thinking that the discrete tread blocks might flex a bit while banked over. I'm probably over thinking it though...
  17. Two from yesterday: Firstly, this guy in Cambridge http://i760.photobucket.com/albums/xx246/Mr_Fro/IMAG0279_1.jpg Congratulations on taking up 2-3 bikes worth of space. Secondly, the woman in the goldish colour Polo who merged into the offside lane approaching a round about while I was beside her. I gave her a good blast of my horn (giggedy) and she just stared straight ahead and continued to try and squish me against the barrier. Totally oblivious! Nothing a twist of the trottle couldn't sort out. The best of it was that she then cut back across the nearside lane at the roundabout and took the first exit... CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUnning plan Baldrick.
  18. I went to get some Pilot Power 3 rubber yesterday (at a good bike garage) and got chatting to the bloke... He was raving about the Pilot Road 3 and all the great feedback he's had about them. He then mentioned the PR4 that have just come out and how they're supposed to be even better WRT mileage and grip vs PR3. Now my head is all confused... They're for the ZX6r which is my daily bike but I do like to "push on" when possible. While I see the advantage of the sports touring PR tyre given the weather we have and the fact that I have to sit on the motorway quite a bit, I don't particularly like the way they look (pretty much like wets). I'm also concerned that the tread pattern goes right to the edge so might compromise cornering ability/stability when it's cranked right over. Your thought/experience is, as always, invaluable! Cheers, Fro
  19. Say whaaaaa? No logical need for a life saver? Wrong! Even if you're going straight ahead you should still get them in both sides. Cyclists are sneaky, silent buggers and creep up on you with Ninja like stealth. Then they wobble in front of you and generally all over the shop so I'd say yes, always with the shoulder checks. As far as test conditions go, you can't make things too obvious. Personally, I'd rather over do the checks and look a bit of a nugget than fail for not making them stand out from normal head movements.

    What Fuse? :(

The wiggly one is definitely a slow blow - no idea about the rating though, better get the reading glasses out...
  21. Just after 6:15! My phone-nav thing ran out of juice and I had to guess the last 10 miles or so. At least I know where it is for next time!
  22. Mr Fro

    3 Questions!!!

1 - They are floating discs so are supposed to have a little bit of play. 2 - Yes. 3 - If it's fibreglass, use fibreglass adhesive. If it's plastic, use the stuff plumbers use to "weld" plastic pipes together.
  23. Was that you lot pulling in just as I was leaving?
  24. Erm... Why? If you need a louder horn then just fit a louder horn. It's against the law to have a two/multi tone horn in the UK.
  25. So what's the dealio dudes? I'm taxing the ninja tomorrow so am booking the day as leave. Anyone else out and about in the evening?
