  1. Hello, Just bought a Next gen draggin jean on ebay. I am usually size 28-29 so bought a 30 but it is fairly/very tight due to all the kevlar linings inside. As it is my first one, I am not sure if they will shrink or give a bit after a while making them fine.... Is the kevlar linings "compressing" itself after a while? Do you have any experience with them? Thanks in advance. Ludo
  2. Same here. I bought the kit which included an external battery and slim speakers. I installed the speakers inside my HJC HQ-1 under the removable linings of the helmet so you can't see them (a semi permanent install, I would say) and it works perfectly
  3. Smiles - I am like you. Got the licence in Nov. 09, rode 2,000m and want to give it a shot. Foz - Same here, I want to try with my bike first and then if I liked it, do it properly on a track one. Hottrax are running novice day for road bikes only at Silverstone. They have 3 levels, 1st timer, 2nd timer and 3rd timer
  4. Yeah, after looking at the video, I stand properly corrected :/ It does not look boring at all... I guess I would be the boring one on the track
  5. Thanks guys Truxton is the closest to me then but it looks like a boring one on paper. Did you already ride on it? Thanks
  6. Hello, Does someone know where I could find a map that shows all the track available in the UK? I am trying to find out what is/are the closest tracks from Woking/Guildford. Thanks in advance. Ludo
  7. Just received a reply from the IAM guy and they have their next meet on Sunday, which I should be able to attend so it is perfect btw, I also don't care about Diploma or insurance premium but I do want to become a better rider so any training I can get, will be more than welcome!
  8. Thanks a lot Phil I need to do some maths, including the purchase of a 1 leather suit before doing an impulse purchase but it is indeed very tempting!
  9. That's kind of the idea. Try for a day on my road bike this year and if I enjoy it, buy a track bike next year to do several days I've some questions.. - If I go with a my road bike, should I expect to kill my tires in one day? I don't believe that it would be the case but I have no idea how rapidly tyres get used on a track... - Insurance: Have you got any insurance to recommend? Because I would not feel confident about going on a track for the day without any insurance? I noticed that they also offer a 1-2-1 instruction for the day at a price which seems fairly reasonable (199GBP - is it expensive in your opinion?) so I may as well do it properly rather than just go on my own and hope for the best Thanks Ludo
  10. Hello, I just discovered that Hottrax are running novice only trackdays to attend with your Road bike only (No Slicks or tyre warmers are allowed.). They are cheap too, only 99GBP. Does anyone have any experience of them? I am strongly considering doing the August one but not sure, if going on a track with my road bike would be a good idea :/ Thanks Ludo
  11. I bought my first helmet online after trying a similar one in the shop. I had a 150GBP budget and was going to buy an entry level HJC one but by buying online, I managed to get a HQ-1 Carbon for 126GBP including pp from Lidsdirect (well packaged, etc.). I still keep my eyes open should another bargain comes up to buy a spare helmet.
  12. Thanks Hoody, that was my idea in wanting to be trained properly straight away, avoid learning too many bad habits
  13. I went with the Pragmasis Protector 16 instead of the Almax as they were doing longer chains. I use a 3m one around a tree to which I link a 2m one to my bike wheel (http://www.torc-anchors.com/proddetail. ... ctor16-x.x). They cost a fair amount but I will keep them for life but I am confident that my bike won't be easily stolen. It would make a massive noise to cut the chain and/or the lock, a Squire SS65CS. (btw, if you buy good chains make sure to buy a good lock too...) and they could not cut the tree easily as it must be 15m+ high and it has a 2.90m circumference Overall I am very satisfied by my chains and did not regret spending these 350GBP...
  14. +1 for Kriega. I bought the US-40. Basically 1xUS-20 and 2xUS-10, so you can use either a 10L, 20L, 30L or 40L tail pack. I have been using it for 6 month and would buy it again.
  15. Thanks for all the feedbacks. 2fast2soon - I am doing both MC1 and MC3 over a week-end mid August and I am very close to booking MC2 a week after. In fact, I am planing to go up North for MC1 &MC3 and then ride around Scotland for a week (for my vacations) and finish by MC2 the following Sunday... I was given this book as part of the BikeSafe day plus an highway code one. Regarding the chicken strips, they were much smaller after following the cop through the twisty roads! What I found the most interesting was to see the trajectory that he was taking, before, during and after the turns, I really learned a lot. I always ride on my own as I don't know anyone who rides so watching an ace rider in action was invaluable. btw the coppers are so good, they are able to push your abilities even if you are very experienced rider (15y+ etc.). They tend to pair the students and the police riders based on their experience and expectations. For instance, my copper is not anymore in the Biker police, he spent something like 10years in the biker Police and is still a biker for fun but he is now a road accident investigator so he was with the beginner students/less challenging ones... but there was a student with his R6 for instance, 30-ish with 10 years riding experience that seemed very confident of his abilities so he got put with a copper (no other student with him) and by the look of things, the cop gave him a proper run for his money... One of the cops was also riding a R6 instead of his "work" bike to make it a bit more fun I guess... Anyway, I decided that I will start with IAM and will move onto RoSPA next year. I like the idea that you need to renew your rospa diploma every 3 years and that there are several levels so it will keep me on my toes!
  16. Thanks. I was also wondering if I should not wait a bit until I have more miles under my belt... With who did you do your machine control course? I am booked with http://i2imca.com for August to do their MC1 & MC3. Thxs Ludo
  17. Hello, I just did my BikeSafe Surrey yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Being a newbie (6month riding and only 2,000 miles), it did help to grow my confidence. I decided that I will move to the next step and either do a ROSPA training and an IAM one. I can't do both as the training seems to always be done on the first Sunday of the month. I understand that both trainings are good but which one will make you a better rider? Which one is more difficult to get and will require a more extensive training? Thanks in advance. Ludo
  18. I took the plunge and booked it for May 30th in Surrey. I will post my feedback after it. Let's hope I've got a friendly officer behind me

    Best chain oil?

Hello, Ok, I need to give a good clean to my chain but then, which oil should I use? After some reading and googling, it looks like the Wurth Dry chain and the Sdoc S100 Motorcycle White Chain Spray could be some good options but what do you reckon? Which oil brand/type would you recommend from your experience? Thanks in advance. Ludo
  20. I am planning to commute almost daily on it. I use it even if it rains but in winter, I was avoiding sub-7C temperature as it is when my winter gloves seems to stop working I wished I could byut that's a shared carpark and they would not allow that They are already pissed off as I take a bike + car spaces The problem with the cover is that since the bike has no center stand, water get stuck inside the cover (where the chain is) and while I had to go abroad for 2-3 weeks, no one removed/emptied the water and it is what really damaged the chain
  21. Hello, I need a Scottoiler V system and quick because my bike only have 900miles on the clock and the chain look very bad I have to leave the bike under a bike cover as I need to attach it to a massive tree where there are way too many birds cheating down... Anyway, it looks like the cover creates condensation and get the bike to rust! So I looked at chain oiler and decided to go with a Scottoiler V system. The system cost 69.99GBP but my Yamaha dealership ask 60GBP for the fitting, which seems to be a lot. Looking at the instructions it does not seems overly difficult to install but I am not sure I would feel confident doing it as I never really done any mechanic on a bike before. So did you already install a Scottoiler V system? If so, did you find it easy to do and how long it take you to do? Do you reckon that 60GBP for fitting is too much or does it sound like a fair price? Thanks in advance. Ludo
  22. that's what I wanted to do too as I live quite far away but their MC1 are fully booked. I guess I will wait next year then :/
  23. Lol, Thats the same as the one I have just ordered, not got it yet and I already wanna take the tank warning stickers off..... Naked or faired? Mine is XJ6 Naked with ABS in black and I just did my 600miles service so will be able to push it a bit further now
