  1. It dropped out of the crankcase cover when I took it off? P.s. ah, this is the pin, check the pics out on the link. Just screws to find then? http://www.ludd.luth.se/~joshua/xf650/xf650.html
  2. Hi all, well after faffing with all the fairings replacing the neutral bulb and getting nowhere, the only other thing could be the dreaded sensor behind the clutch, and here it is, minus the 2 screws that held it in place The 2 screws are nowhere to be seen, though I will drop the oil later and see if they drop from the sump. I doubt it very much. These things are not just lose but they are right out. The seller told me it must just have happened as he hadn't noticed before? well best not think about it. So what next? I have touch the sensor to the plate and there is no sign of a neutral light coming on. So even if it was connected I'm not sure it would work. I'll turn to you guys for guidance, wotcha think?
  3. Hi all, managed to get the clutch cover off before checking out the neutral sensor - one bolt as shown in the pic just wasn't shifting, I could almost feel it twist, and gentle as I could, it still snapped! What is the best method guys for removing this bolt please? Top middle of the pic.
  4. Happy New Year from me too guys Gonna get me more biking in this year. Barcud
  5. I'll be 60 in a couple of years and unlike in my early years at 12stone I can sustain 17stone without even thinking But a couple of years ago I went off alcohol and didn't touch the stuff. I also started eating jam and honey on my bread instead of butter. Jam butties for my lunch at work. My family kept asking was I losing weight and I always said I wasn't. In the end I jumped on some scales and was only just over 14stone Around a 3 stone loss just by cutting out alcohol and fats, oh and walking the dog a bit more. Unfortunately my body has caught on and I hover around the 16 and a half stone mark now. Oh and I need reading glasses now oh and I'm deaf in one ear oh and my hip clicks oh and I have a hernia kin' 'ell Barcud

http://www.ludd.luth.se/~joshua/xf650/xf650.html Hi, got my gasket so will do the job tomorrow. Looking at the above pic it looks straight forward. It doesn't look like I need to drop the oil, what do you think? p.s. what is tied up in the first pic? the brake ? why? Barcud

    Another update.

Hi all. A bit pee'd off I think Had a spin today. Quite enjoyed it There is a particular junction by a local co-op that gets really busy and people double park and park on double yellows. Anyway, at this point I thought I was in neutral but couldn't tell for sure because of the lack of a neutral light. Slipped the clutch and it was still in gear, but what gear? The upshot is I didn't think the lack of neutral light would bother me but it does. I had bought a new bulb as I'd deduced it was bulb failure. It took a couple of hours to take all the fairings and other plastic bits to get to the bulb. All guess work as the manual on the internet is full of useless dark pictures. Of course the new bulb didn't work. Another hour or two replacing everything and I'm left with 3 allen bolts in my pocket, shit Next? That leaves the neutral sensor behind the clutch casing. Hopefully just loose bits and not a couple of bits waiting to get crunched! Unless you guys have any other ideas? http://www.ludd.luth.se/~joshua/xf650/xf650.html P.S. is this a one gasket job? Barcud
  10. Hi Mark, I've messed about with guitars in the past. I twang on my wife's Seagull acoustic sometimes but I also have an electric guitar made here in Wales. You don't say what type of band/music you play? Barcud

    Latest update.

Cheers guys, I am gonna re-bleed the brakes then see just how much braking power I have. I shall see just how much slack I have and then take it from there. Will have to be Friday now because, ho ho ho I'll get back to you. Barcud

    Latest update.

Hi and thanks guys. Perhaps I should have done 2 threads really. Anyway. I am using a motorcycle brake bleeder from Halfords. As it has a non return on the pipe I thought this would do away with putting the end into a bowl of fluid? And also help generally. I will try a brake bleed again and take into consideration what you suggest. The juddering? My initial thinking was the chain jumping! But then going by the sellers ad' : Recent new chain & sprockets, & service, plugs, oil & filters all changed. But then the plugs didn't look too great Maybe the chain needs adjusting? There seems to be quite a way to go taking the wheel back judging by the indicators. If I make a mark on the chain, and line it up with a mark on the rear sprocket, take it for a spin, the marks should still be in line. Would that work? Barcud

    Latest update.

Hi Deso, as far as I know I've bled the brake properly. I use a tube with a non return valve on the bleeder and I'm sure I pass new fluid right through the system. But, it might be worth trying it again. Cheers Barcud
  14. Me too looking forward to updates and progress Barcud

    Latest update.

Hi again. With regards to my rear brake post below, I have now cleaned the caliper piston, replaced the seals, replaced the brake fluid, and now fitted new brake pads. There is a lot more meat on the new pads BUT, still no effective braking I can bring the wheel to a standstill just rolling in the garage. But on the road? Useless! I mean it doesn't slow the bike down one little bit. So controlling the throttle and applying the front brake as my only means of slowing and stopping is quite tricky. This now means a master cylinder rebuild. Not a big job, but a little more money. And then - if that doesn't improve matters I'm stuffed Surely a new disc wouldn't be the answer? After renewing the spark plugs she fired almost first time with a choke and idles nicely when warmed up. Riding in the lower gears though feels a bit juddery. If that's a word? There is a noticeable judder on accelerating in the first 2 gears at low speed. I know this could be a hundred things but what should I consider first? Barcud
  16. "> Have you guys checked out the hot wheels videos? I remember my hot wheels set many many years ago Barcud

Hope you get the problem sorted soon. Had a few Volvo's, no problems. Got an Ocean Race edition at the moment. I think it looks cool anyway Barcud
  18. Thanks Stu. She is tucked up jammed behind the car in the back of the garage at the moment. I will get a couple of closer shots when she next comes out Barcud
  19. Hi guys, they're not too bad but would look better a bit cleaned up. You can see the cases on this pic.
  20. Hi guys, my 97 XF650 cases could do with a cleaning up. What method are you guys using to get old cases looking good again? Barcud
  21. Cheers IM. Last time I was into biking I didn't have a throttle stop screw so it was new to me Sounds straight forward. I'm just getting to know my bike and adjusting the idle is something I might do as tick over is just over 1000 and careful feathering of the throttle keeps things ticking over at a standstill. Things improve when it gets a bit warmer. cheers again. Barcud
  22. This bike was made for roads like these. That growl turns heads going through villages. What a gas despite the weather. I noticed in the pic I forgot to refit the rear mudguard, the bike is not everyones cup of tea, but I quite like the look of it.

  24. http://service.tanga-moteurs.ro/data/Su ... o,-14,1224 Hi guys , basically I don't understand these instructions to adjust idle speed If you turn the throttle stop until you get about 1500 revs, why bother adjusting the pilot screws? You already have the idle speed you want? Barcud

    Petrol valve?

Thanks guys. The last run out I had all seemed fine with the idle at junctions. This time out the idle ran too low and the engine cut! I thought maybe I had the prime position on the petrol and the mix was rich? If not I'll have to adjust the idle tomorrow. 2 carbs, could be interesting Barcud
