Hi, yes it selects neutral fine and I can feel the neutral. Barcud

Hi all, well I've picked up a bike. A Suzuki XF650 with the unfortunate model name 'Freewind' Just over 19000 on the clock and it's a bike I'm very happy with BUT. When I picked it up the neutral light wasn't working. The seller said he hadn't noticed and it must have just gone. So I'm thinking no more than a bulb change. Then I read this : http://www.ludd.luth.se/~joshua/xf650/xf650.html http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showt ... light-woes http://dr650.wikia.com/wiki/Potential_p ... e_aware_of I'm in the process of removing a load of fairings as it seems the only way of getting at the consul holding the bulbs. When I eventually find a 12V 1.7W bulb that is! (Not at Halfords or car spare shop.) I'm guessing as I go along. The digital manual photos are total crap and a waste of space! Check out the links and tell me what you think - change the bulb - no change - get the cover off? Would you ride it in the meantime? Barcud

Hi Twiggy, how are you getting on with the GT ? barcud

Hi, I checked out your facebook photos, pretty good. But I do like these Goldy pics. Very industrial. I think I'll try that look when I eventually get a bike Barcud

It's a yamaha 400 4 stroker. Doesn't sound too complicated. cheers again.

Hi guys, and thanks. So are we talking a common thing ? or could it be something more serious ? Could thicker oil help ? p.s. would an overhaul be an idea?
-
Hi all. Is a knocking in the clutch common on starting an engine from cold? Cheers
-
Cheers for that. A lot of help barcud

Gotcha That could actually give me more choice as to a prospective bike buy. barcud
-
p.s. looked hard but I can't work out how the bottom of the bar grip is screwed into the yoke?
-
That's just what I had in mind. Bonniebird, I assume you have done a fair bit of test riding now? More comfy and better slow speed handling is what I'd be hoping for too. barcud
-
That sounds interesting Tango. Are there any pics around? Would the yoke tops be similar? barcud

Hi all, take for example a cbr600 or gsx600. Standard bars are clip on type and quite low. Are there any modifications that could be carried out to the bike to get a handle bar height an inch or two up and back. Street fighter style I guess. The original fairing might have to modified too to accommodate. any ideas guys? barcud

CB750F2N Cafe Racer Project.

Hi Tango, are there any bits we can look out for for you? I do a lot of surfing the net looking at bike stuff barcud -
Now that's an interesting bike to still see around. I can hear the exhaust note in my head and smell that smell. There was an MuZ 660 for sale on ebay this week, with the yamaha engine. A really clean and nice single cylinder. A few miles closer to home and it would be sitting in my garage now barcud

'piece of piss'. That's something I could do more with, confidence Yes Tango, you are correct there. I don't even know they would need doing yet !

Hi all, just wanted to raise this again with a related question. I'm confident basic servicing is okay but how many of you guys have adjusted valves in modern shimmed engines. I was raised on screw type tappets and these shimmed valves look quite complicated? I'm considering a CB500 at the moment that could do with a service, though I'm not sure I'd be up to valve adjustments. cheers

Hi all, yes, the Yamaha looked a good bike except for the rusty tank. After looking into it I decided not to pursue it. Shame!
-
Hi, a bike was advertised for sale but the bottom seam on the tank was rusted. To what extent I can't tell from the photos. But I do know from searching the tank model is almost impossible to find. I've found a couple on Japan Ebay!!! I'm giving up on it.
-
Hi guys, a fuel tank with a rusting bottom seam! How simple is a repair? or would it be time to source another tank? cheers
-
Hi guys, are there any longer/taller shocks that could be fitted to a gpz500s ? Reason? a better ride from the rear, and a rise in seating height. p.s. anyone experience with raising kits/dog bones? barcud

June 1st 1973. I thought it was topical for a 70's thread. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/1973-mot ... models.htm "> Barcud

Now here's a pub quiz question. When did wearing a helmet become compulsory

Wow, a big job you got on there charlie! Have you got all the bits? Have you renovated before?

My first bike was a 1975 Honda SL125. Passed my test on it as well. The bike did everything on and off the road with no problems at all. Gun gummed the exhaust a couple of times and that's about it. Let my friend have a try at riding it and he rode it straight into a lamp post!!! Fixed it and sold it back to the shop I bought it from for £150. I've checked the reg' on the internet but it doesn't seem to be around anymore.
