  1. Yup, CBT is all, and some L plates on the bike That's what I've been doing. Really need to get around to booking my Mod 2, but these strikes by the examiners are putting me off. I've heard some mixed reviews about Ride On in Glasgow, but they do seem to be getting better.

Very nice, what graphic card did you go for? I finally got around to replacing my ageing pc at the begining of the year - I skimped a bit and didn't buy the Arctic Freezer CPU cooler I wanted, but actually finding the stock Intel fan to keep the temp down no problem! Shocked is an understatement.
  3. You're lucky you've built up some points liking board games Agreed Although I fitted white DRL to my bike earlier on in the year, I have no idea if they are too bright. I tried my best to find guidelines but failed. :-/ They appear to be around the brightness of Audi DRL, but only about 1/4 strip of them in total. :-/
  4. You can do the CBT without doing the theory test first. But it helps if you read over the highway code before your CBT. As you will get questioned about it. Is there any way you could get a bike around the back of your house, out of sight of the road? If not then look for lampposts, railing or other street furniture that you could attach your bike too with a decent chain and padlock. I fully recommend the motorcycle chains and padlocks from here You could also do some dummy insurance quotes online to give you an idea how much it would cost.

I love hearing about people experiences of old IT technology. We have came a long way from 30 years ago (Windows turned 30 this year) and a super long way from 50 years ago. I love to think where we will be in the next 30 years. With the hope that I can see and be a part of the evolution

I accidentally bought two Pi's when they were first released. I ordered one each from both companies... I messed around with one of them for a bit, using it to stream movies and such, but lost interest. Sold the other one around a year later. I see they have now brought out an even smaller Pi?!

It's got to be played in person in my mind. Doesn't work the same over a pc/phone. I first played it when I moved into a new house share. Was a very interesting way to get to know my flat mate/landlord and his friends!

All you need for fun when you have a group of friends together is cards against humanity. Drinking makes it all the weirder.

It started as IT chat Now it has turned into IT chat sidelined by games! games!! GAAAAAMES!!!! It's cause everyone who does IT support gets so bored with it that games are our release I made the possible mistake of downloading minecraft a few weekends ago... stupidly addictive for no apparent reason. But sheep and pigs and cow and horses to capture and wolves and cats that I can never find!

I loved my little gamecube I remember the LAN parties too, but since my dad cabled up our house they were were always held at our house Counter Strike, Aliens vs Predator, Total Annihilation and this were what we mostly played, great fun! - Loved all my consoles too, but getting back into PC gaming now.
  12. Like Klingelton says just take it easy and keep an eye out for damp and/or shaded parts of the road. I was out yesterday when it was around 3°C and was fine (on new tyres too!).
  13. Nice to hear that, these are on my "possible list" for winter gloves. Need to try and find a stockist though to try them... How is the sizing? Do they run tight/narrow?

There are rules and guidelines for disabled access ramps, even if you do not complain/claim, it might be worth pointing it out to them if it is too steep for too long - http://www.wheelchair-ramps.co.uk/speci ... air-ramps/ Think of people who self propel their wheelchairs. Could they make it up it without difficulty? Keep your leg elevated as much as possible, and do some gentle stretches and you'll be back to normal in no time I reckon. Either that or the dog will hound you so much that you forget about the pain
  15. Done. The question about how much do you spend online each week is difficult. What if I do my shopping online but pick it up at the shop? Should Netflix/Amazon Prime/Now TV be included in my weekly spend? What about click and collect things like halfords etc?
  16. Nice! Good luck with it. Will you be keeping it purple?
  17. Yea you can get all sorts of kits for them. Some dealers are buying in the Tyda body kit and doing various paint jobs on it, some looks rather lovely. There was one that was done to model the BWM S1000 RR, looked lovely but cannot find the picture :-/ I think it started as a few of the racers were using them as bikes around the pits/paddock. I'm guessing they wanted them in their team colours, then things spiralled from there! There are many guys your height and above use them. Yea it might look odd, but that is partly the fun of it
  18. The dealer is the registered keeper. May have been used as a demo bike, or loan bike. Yea I thought that too, but I've never heard of a garage keeping a demo/loan for that long. But I suppose there will be some out there that do
  19. For anyone who gets one of these little bikes, I cannot emphasise enough how much changing the tyres makes the bike feel. I got a pair of Metzeler Feelfree Wintec put on at the weekend (£75+£20 fitting for the pair) and oh my word what a difference they make! Gone is the skittishness in the wet/damp. It is much more willing to corner tightly, and you can feel the grip so much more the whole time. Why I did not change them before I have no idea. First ride out after getting them done was only just around town for 30min as there was gale force winds, but went out for a bit longer today and they are absolutely fantastic. Feel so much more confident in both the bike's. and my own abilities now. Feel so much more secure on the road. Eventually had to call it a day as I only have summer gloves and my hands were numb from the cold, grrr!!!
  20. Looks like a great find, and in one of my favourite colours I am confused as to how it can have that many miles, but no official owners in the log book?
  21. This works fantastically well. I visualised that I was "drawing" crosses rather than an "8" and that helped me. The U turn is decided for you, you don't get to pick the direction. You will get a left hand circuit or a right hand circuit. You can normally tell which you get by looking for the speed trap equipment when you go in. But the tester will explain exactly where they want you to go and what to do anyways. Try not to panic and stamp on the rear brake when doing the emergency stop. If you skid/lock the back wheel they can/will fail you right there and you wont do the rest of the test. During mine I only rested my foot on the rear brake and let the front brake do 90% of the work. The instructor said afterwards that it was possibly one of the quickest stops he as seen. Stay calm and relaxed, that is the key to passing
  22. I have no issue with second hand, so long as it has not been damaged. The Rukka stuff does look (and feel) lovely, but yea, very expensive.
  23. Congrats! I had a similar experience when I done my bike theory Advice for CBT? I'd say keep looking up, not at the ground. When instructors say "look where you are going" find something to look at that is about head high instead of a point on the ground. Graffiti or marks on walls, signs on fences, windows, tree branches. All work well That is how I got through my Mod 1 ! Like Hoggs, my on the road section of the CBT was mostly being told to turn the indicators off... You soon get the hang of it, even so much as I now find myself cancelling them in the car.
  24. I've stayed at a few Wetherspoon hotels and have always been impressed by them. They do the same weird, TK Maxx special decorating in the rooms too! And you know exactly what the food is like, which is very helpful if you have been travelling all day.
  25. I bought mine from helmetcity.co.uk and it arrived double boxed, with some of those big air pocket pads in it. Helmet and inside box was perfectly intact and I am not concerned about it's integrity. The outisde box has some wear on the corners, but nothing major.
