  1. There seems to be a few fitness gurus here so I'll ask here... Cause the doctors have been no help so far. Anyone have any advice for a borderline diabetic who is trying to get more active and lose some weight? Also suffer from fibromyalgia, so not really able to do high impact stuff (like running). Basically what happens is I can reduce my calorie intake to around 1200 a day, and can loose a little bit of weight over a a few weeks, then nothing. The main problem is if I do almost any sort of exercise on that amount of calories, I feel really faint and dizzy. Just now I've went back to not really monitoring my diet. I reckon I am probably eating around 1800-2000 calories most days. Exercise - tend to go out for a 1.5m-4 mile mostly flat/gentle hill walk 3-4 evenings during the week. Weekends, normally a longer walk (around 4-8 miles) or a cycle. I have just started cycling though and keeping it short because I came very close to fainting the first time I went out and reach a long sloping hill... Also 4 morning a week I do around 30min of various stretching exercises (it's basically yoga) to help with the fibro. I also (very) occasionally go swimming. But as I only learned how to swim last year, I'm not very good at it! This pretty much maintains my weight and I don't feel faint when doing exercise. Any tips/suggestions? I'm hoping to change a couple of my evening walks to cycles once it gets a bit warmer. Hoping this will help shift some weight. Ideally I want to lose around 8-10kg, with no real time scale. My problem seems to be eating enough that I don't faint but can still lose weight.
  2. I still occasionally forget what gear I am in, and I only have 4 to choose from The nearly going over the bars feeling when going down to 1st from "3rd" when I though I was going to 2nd always makes me think I should get one of these indicators... but nowhere to put it
  3. A few folk at my work rate the microsoft band highly though. They love that they can get their text messages on it as well, although I'm not sure if it will talk to an apple...
  4. I looked into them before Christmas, but came to the conclusion that in order to get one that does walking, cycling and swimming I need to spend £200-£300 on a Suunto Ambit 3 Sport Just now, Google fit and Strava does everything apart from swimming (I can manually add though) reasonably well. Edit: Also, I've found if you have small wrists, most of them look silly/weird/fall off.
  5. I tried something similar (can't remember the name) Cost about £10 a bottle and was useless. When ever the gloves got slightly wet it would come off.
  6. I agree with this. But I will be voting to stay in. Out politicians are in the most part only interested in increasing their own and their friends wealth and influence. If we vote out, I can see them getting even more ruthless with cuts. The wealthy-poor divide will get bigger and bigger, which is not good or healthy for the country as a whole. As a country we get a lot of business from being in the EU. That would more than certainly be cut off for a few years at least if we left, and I doubt it would recover completely. What I do not agree with is people moving into the UK without first having a job, or a skill/profession that we are short of. We need more control over that. If we are discussing change for changes sake, I would vote Scotland out of the UK but keep Scotland in the EU. I did actually vote No in the referendum, as no side could answer my questions and concerns to my satisfaction. I do want to stay in the EU however. So if we leave the EU and another independence referendum occurs, I'll be voting to leave the UK. I did not vote for the prats that are in Westminster, I never have. Most of them have no idea what life is actually like in the rest of the country outwith the home counties. If they don't know and are unwilling to relate to what life is like elsewhere, how can they run the country in the best way possible for most of the people.

    Which 125?

Maybe add the range of small 125 bikes such as the MSX ? Great for people with short legs, and fantastic fun. I've written a review of mine in the readers rides sections of the forum if you want an overview. There are a few other smaller bikes like this around. Not sure if the Kawasaki version is coming to the UK yet.
  9. If no other info has changed, request a duplicate. This costs nothing. Then you can send that away to change the colour. If you have changed address however, £25 charge. I just has to pay to get one for my car. Very annoying as I didn't lose it, it never arrived from them when I changed address!
  10. I can highly recommend these guys for selling fantastic chains and padlocks at a good price http://securityforbikes.com/categories. ... kage+Deals I've not tried their ground anchors, but they get very good reviews too.
  11. When I got mine I rode it gently for the first 300 miles or so, not reving it high until it was really warmed up. Also didn't keep the revs high for more than a couple of min. Partly why I rode it so gently was that having a combination of new (rubbish) tyres and new breaks make stopping feel really odd for a while until they were bedded in and scrubbed in. Also, found the clutch to take some getting use to, as it worked a lot better than the training school bike! After 300miles or so I just rode it normally. What I got from investigating how to break an engine in was - the key is to not "suprise" the engine with sudden high revs. Keep it smooth, and cover the whole rev range gradually.
  12. 4K is four times more "detailed" than 1080 (Full HD). Read this - http://www.which.co.uk/reviews/televisi ... ould-i-buy and use the slidey scale thing to figure out what size of tv you need/want. It has a bit on 4K aswell. Personally, I like Sony, Panasonic and LG TV's. I have two older Sony's in the house and they are still fantastic to watch movies on and play PS3 on.
  13. Glad to hear you are feeling better. Rest is the best thing for most illnesses
  14. I also ride around 7 miles to and from work. To be honest, unless it is a torrential downpour, leather will more than likely keep you dry for that sort of distance. The only gloves I have are leather summer gloves with vents in them (I put an outlast liner in during winter). I do ride in rain if it is not very heavy, and I've yet to get properly wet hands in my short commute. Even the cheap kevlar jeans I've got do a good job of keeping the water at bay during summer showers going to and from work. I was very surprised at that!
  15. Glad to hear that. Well done to the shop for sorting it out for you.
  16. Wait until you get some leathers. The armour feels even more massive in them than it does in textiles!
  17. Correct for gaming. But for the server side of things an i7 may be better. I don't know how each of those game servers interact with multiple cores, but the larger cache should help performance. Mostly it comes down to budget. Personally I would go with a large cache, decent clock speed i7. Or if the server is under load for large periods of the day, look at Xeon. Edit, I have nothing against i5. I use one in my own gaming PC. But I don't host servers on it.
  18. So if your line is up to the task, what is your budget. A site I use for rough comparing and compatibility testing is uk.pcpartpicker.com To be honest. You are probably going to be fine using high end gaming motherboards and a reasonably new i7 processor. Xeons come into their own with big data transfers, but the i7's are proving to be very capable. Pair a nice i7 with a Z97 spec motherboard, a decent amount of good RAM (highish speed - lowish CL) and some good HDD(SSD idealy) and you will be good to go I reckon.
  19. Not sure what your budget is, but for £50 I'd say this one is definitely worth it - http://www.directvacuums.co.uk/vax-vpw2 ... 99-99.html It is what I use to clean the parrot cage, cars, driveway, slabs, anything else it can reach! The Karch outlet is also worth keeping an eye on. I've seen them sell off open boxed ones for £30 or so.
  20. Glad you took the advice and went to hospital. HAve they gave you anything to help break down the mucus?
  21. Server spec aside, what games will you be hosting and for how many people? And what is your broadband line like? (Not just speed but latency too) You may find you are limited to what your line can support, rather than hardware.
  22. I have the shark s900 (the c means it has weird cheek pumps). It is not a perfect fit for me (I get a slight sore head after 90min) but it is pretty quiet. I do wear ear plugs though. (Moldex spark plugs) I like the helmet, and don't really want to replace it. But lack of a pinlock and getting sore head eventually is annoying me now.
  23. Hope you've listened to the advice and phoned nhs24/went to A&e. Difficulty breathing should always be looked into by a professional. In September I had a rather horrible chest infection. Lasted nearly 6 weeks and felt like I was constantly being kicked in the chest by a horse and the more I coughed the more I couldn't breath. Antibiotics did nothing. Shortnes of breath was only kept at bay by taking 200mg of Ibuprofen every 2 hours (under doctors orders). Hope you are feeling better soon!
  24. Are the same guys wearing buns in their hair? It seems to be the new fashion... I agree that it looks stupid. Hopefully they will go back to buying proper sized trousers soon!
