I use Weise gloves - excellent value for money, light and waterproof.
Check their range out.
I've had AlpineStar 365's and they are OK but not worth the wonga.

My best mate has just refurbished an old Ducati - sat outside for 10 years, discs looked beyond repair, thick rust covering them.
He shot blasted them, checked they weren't warped and resprayed them. First ride out overspray of paint came off and the discs were spot on - straight MOT pass and then went on to track day it.

BikeSafe launch at Humber Bridge Car Park from 10am Sunday 17 April
Heine Gericke, MGA M/C Accessories, IntoGear will be there - Raffle prizes for those taking part, and some other giveaways.
Rideouts with advanced assessors free of charge.
Come down and join in - should be a good day

Manchester to Richmond isn't too far and they have some sizes on stock.
I have known them take far less time than that though.
-
Used by most police forces in the country, acheive the higher levels of CE protection, ultra comfortable and fully waterproof.

I have posted on here before regards Alt-Bergs. Made to measure. Excellent kit, full after sales service including refurbishment (resoling, panel replacement, re lining etc)
-
Have you tried the shop you got it from?
-
Would wait until/if the technology is adopted by other manufacturers.
A good fitting lid and not having a collsion will save you a fortune!
-
My recommendation would be Alt-Bergs.
About the same price as decent off the shelf boots, but they do a bespoke service and make to measure.
Always score highly in RiDER Power.
Superb boot, waterproof and strong. They also do reburbishment - resoling, or panel replacement increasing the life of the boots infinitely.
Not the latest looking, but fantastic piece of kit. http://www.altberg.co.uk

Shoei Hornet too

RV and SV were around about 10 years ago. They were Arai's basic lids.
Have a look at the new Arai Axcess and the Shoei Qwest if you want decent brand entry level lids(£260.00)

Back protector - Force Field

I've done 5-600 miles through choice and 900 through necessity in a day, but actually 'touring' loses it's fun appeal if it's an every day 500 mile dash.
250-300 miles a day (8-9hrs riding) is more than enough, particularly on nice roads.
Each to their own though - horses for courses!
-
I arrange and do a lot of European trips and I have to say that's a mammoth tour you are thinking of.
If you are doing Auschwitz it is a long way over very boring roads through Poland!
Consider Berlin and Warsaw either side of it.
Unless you are looking at 3 weeks, the itinerary may be better suited to two trips, unless you are looking at 500 miles a day in which case the riding becomes a chore.
-
I also know it is an offence to use hazards while moving, we were stopped once while towing, so just cos you havent been caught/ seen doesnt mean it isnt so.
Hoody is only advising/warning you of what may occour
Cheers Techno
When overtaking, use of the horn and long headlight flash is ALWAYS an option open but it is merely to inform other drivers of your presence, not give you a right of way as per the highway code. I use a headlight flash regularly. Maybe about 1-2secs in length, It's the way i was taught and i'm an emergency vehicle driverYupp!

What's been missed out here is: Keep using your mirrors too!
In total agreement - should use them all the time anyway
I've lost count of the times I've been stuck behind a timid rider waiting for the gap the size of a tank open up to one similar to the Grand Canyon.'Timid' riders??!!? Careful and safe would be more apt
In all seriousness, I always check mine because there'll always be someone more deranged than I am making their way somewhere - and in a line of three or four bikes weaving down a car-park motorway I'd rather not be the front one either.Quite often, if filtering, I'll stick my hazards on and pop the main beam on full blast too.
High beam will dazzle car drivers, seeing the light is one thing, but on full beam, other than pissing them off they won't necessarily be able to judge distance and may even swerve across you thinking you are an emergency vehicle some distance away. As for using hazards - await the fixed penalty for misuse. They are to warn of danger/hazards - not to give you the right to push through.
Filtering is purely an overtaking maneouvre. Do you use hazards/high beam in a car when overtaking?

If you're not mechanically competent, get a dealer to replace them both, even if only one's leaking.
Whilst doing it get them to change the fork oil and check the head bearings.
-
If there is no oil ring around the fork leg, then the seal is OK.
The thing likely to give a 'rough' ride is head bearings. Check the head for free play. I slight nip (don't overtighten) may work, otherwise they may need changing.

Got this one http://www.marushin-helmets.co.uk/marushin_tiger.htm for my wife, with totally reflecting illegal lid It fits on my head too, even better than my Caberg V2 407 so I'm very envious
Whats a 'totally reflecting illegal lid'?

I use Brasso and that grease stuff
Be careful if you decide use wonder wheels
Its a mild acid and if you leave it on too long it will stain the chrome
And had 'chrome cleaning' been asked I wouldn't have recommended it.
The question was about stainless.
-
First thing I would do is give it a dose of Wonder Wheels.
I use it on mine and it works well.

I think you will find a lot of RiDE stuff is rider based, and the team do test the stuff themselves, both under controlled conditions and on the road in real terms.
If you go cheap you will end up sweating and feeling cold.
Cheapest way to keep warm is thin layers of technical material - runners kit, walker or mountain gear or EDz and ForceField for biker specific. Avoid cotton, retains water and makes you cold.
Waterproof kit needs to be breathable or you will feel cold due to sweat.
