  1. Damn, I missed you! Let me know when you are out next and if I'm not at work, I'll come out for a bimble. I'm on an SRAD 750.
  2. Hi all, I currently use a Shoei XR1000 Diabolic and its a great helmet but I am looking at the Icon Airmada, mainly because I just fancy a change. Has anyone used or is using one of these? They look great, great reviews and very well priced. Any thoughts or reviews are appreciated.
  3. I love it. I bought it with some problems that I have now sorted out and it's great! I just need to ride properly now....... Saying that, I'm having some good experiences in the rain!!
  4. Happy with that mate. Only up the road ish from me. Hopefully we'll have some better weather too!
  5. New to biking with a GSXR 750 y, fancy having a bimble with other people as I get bored by myself. Anyone around? Cheers all.
  6. Hi mate sorry for the delay in replying!! I rode a bit when I was a lot younger so had some experience. The best advice in my opinion is just to relax, easier said than done I know! Your instructor will not put you through for your test unless he/she is happy that you are competent enough. Enjoy it, listen to all advice from your instructor and good luck!! Let us know how you get on.
  7. So, I had a couple of hours off work this morning so I cleaned the sensor again with carbon cleaner as well as the other plugs and sensors under the fuel tank. I had the battery disconnected and reconnected after I put everything back together. I started it up, no codes, no oil pressure light on, everything seemed OK. I chucked me gear on and off I went. Only rode about 5 miles or so due to coming back to work but it is a completely different bike! No stalling at all, power all the way through the band, no smelling of fuel and running rich and even the idle has sorted itself out. Bloody brilliant! Thanks for your help guys I really appreciate it, now I just need to get off the locking fuel cap I have no key for.........
  8. I have enough oil in there and with regards to the idle adjust screw, I can't see any screw at all when looking at the throttle mechanism. Going out there again tomorrow after work so will check back in after that. Thanks again for your help!
  9. Shoot! Any ideas what to do about the oil pressure then? I think if I lift the tank again, the idle screw will be on the left side of the bike, on the right side of the throttle cables. I will go out tomorrow and do that and report back!! Hopefully I will be able to go out on it properly soon without stalling at every junction!!
  10. Thanks Stu, I have just got in after faffing around. I found it bolted to the right hand side of the frame as you sit on the bike, just before the airbox as you said. I took the connector off and cleaned it and it now runs more evenly if that makes sense. I have no FI warning lights on now which is good. The revs are far too low still and it dies if you take the choke off. I cannot see any idle adjust screw, it just seems to be nuts that can be moved? Is there any recommended oil for my bike as it could do with topping up. The TPS still shows as high but I guess that may change when the idle is sorted. It feels good knowing that we seem to be getting somewhere!! The oil light is on but is that for oil pressure or level? Also, the bike now smells like a bike when running instead of fuel!!
  11. Thanks for the info Stuart I appreciate it. I popped home at break but couldn't see the APS under the rear cowl or under the seat. Is it going to be near the air box do you think? Fingers crossed after I sort this out it will run a whole lot better. I'm itching to get out there!!
  12. Aha! I looked there last night and I am pretty sure I don't have one of those though I do have the connector block it fixes to. I will look when I get home about 6:30 tonight and report back. Wouldn't it be great if this cured the awful running problems I'm having! There is only one fault on the FI at the moment. With the TPS do you adjust that with just the ignition on, or running or up to temp? Forgive my ignorance But I am somewhat of a novice still!
  13. Cannot find it anywhere Stu, perhaps its missing? From the looks of it the wiring has been chopped about. Anyway, I've had enough for now!! Signing of for now.............
  14. OK so, c22 fault. Atmospheric pressure sensor. Could this be what is making or at least contributing to the bike running like crap? I'm too tired to hunt for the sensor now and its bucketing down out there so I will wait until tomorrow. Also the dash before the c is high but I literally only started the bike to get the codes. Do I have to wait for normal running temperature to get the correct reading? Thanks all, speak tomorrow.
  15. I got to the back of the ignition barrel and undid the two anti theft torx bolts and then I persuaded the barrel to come away from the triple tree. I undid the two screws at the front of the barrel housing and viola! Pull the wafer barrel out nice and gently.
  16. No worries, I'll check the codes tomorrow after work and see what's what. Oil appears OK through the glass. I will also look for an adjustment screw. If it's light enough tomorrow I'll take a picture of it as I can't see it for the life of me. Off to bed now, catch up with you all tomorrow.
  17. Thanks Stu, the red FI light is on constantly, it doesn't flash. I will check the faults tomorrow after work. Secondary throttle valve actuator, how hard is that to fix/replace? Hoggs, I can get to the throttle mechanism but there are no visible adjustment screws, only nuts and I'm not sure how to adjust them yet.
  18. Okay so, I managed to disassemble the ignition and get out the centre part with the waffles. I got a blank Suzuki key from Taunton and was able to file it to bring the waffles down. I can now turn the bike on and off but cannot open my fuel flap. How do you remove a locking fuel cap without a key? Chuffed I can now start the bloody thing!!!
  19. Hi all, I bought a 2000 GSXR-750 yesterday and have got some niggles that need resolving with your help if possible. It has a K&N air filter and an aftermarket can and these may be the problem. The lad I bought the bike from said it stalls occasionally and upon riding it home it is a bloody nightmare!! When you start it, it doesn't always stay running as in it will die straight away and can often take around a dozen attempts to start. When you are riding and pull the clutch in and change down to second or first more often than not it will die and again takes around a dozen attempts to start. When you open the throttle sometimes it will cough and splutter and then take off, not smoothly at all. When warm and the revs die, you can apply the choke to maximum and it will only bring the revs to approximately 1000 rpm, you then blip the throttle and it will idle around 4000/5000 rpm. When idling normally it hovers around 800 rpm and although I have located the idling mechanism, I can't for the life of me find the 2 idling adjustment screws. I am going to look at the FI faults tomorrow as the red light is on, I'll also check the TPS. The bike also smells like its running very rich too, could this be because of the filter and can? Would a Power Commander or suchlike help, or even a remap? I'm not looking for more power, I just want to sort this frigging idling issue out! Thanks all, I appreciate it.
  20. Unfortunately I lost the one and only key before I even got home! I am getting out there tomorrow morning and hopefully I can remove the ignition barrel and gain access to the bottom switch and turn it manually to turn the ignition on. I can then ride it to my mates garage and lock it away until my new bits arrive. It's runny rough and idles at 800, it also stalls when engaging first gear and rolling off at low speeds in first and second. I am going to hopefully get it started and adjust the idle, I'm also going to lift the tank to check for any damaged or kinked pipes. I'll get it into dealer mode and check for any faults and also check the throttle position sensor. Any ideas what else is worth checking? Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.
  21. The key was in the ignition but I guess it was too loose and came out whilst riding. I don't know if it is coded to the ECU as the bike stalled 2 or 3 times on the way home but I was able to start it again whilst the ignition was still on but without the key. I am waiting a callback from a mobile vehicle locksmith and take it from there. What a ball ache!!!!
  22. Hi all, picked up my 2000 GSXR750 today, took it for a blast up the motorway and have lost my key along the way!!! I have got it at home now and am going to order a whole new ignition barrel and fuel locking cover. Before I order these has anyone else had this problem or can anyone else offer a different solution? If anyone has had to replace the ignition barrel on a Gixxer, can you please tell me how difficult it was, thanks, Wayne.
  23. Yes so, picking up my 2000 GSXR 750 on Saturday morning. Yellow and black, it stalls occasionally when warm but starts up again straight away. I guess thats the fuel filter or breather filter. I'll get it in for a service anyway and hopefully that will get sorted.
  24. Brilliant, passed my mod 2 today with 1 minor. I stalled in very very slow moving traffic. Very pleased and thanks for all the encouragement, I appreciate it!!
