Are we going to get a who’s who of the people in the pics?
Yes, this

I have no problems watching them and they can be quite fascinating. Alot can be learnt from watching them too, so avoiding them completely means you're missing out on potential learning opportunities.
Agreed

Congratulations

I tried spray, never really worked for me to be hones. . Just a quick wipe with a hand or a quick turn of the head.

Hi @Foxy Stoat seeks Pig, sometimes you find you can't get enough heat into area, so like @megawatt mention, heating then Ice on bolts, I use this on most of my stuck bolts nowadays, never had a bolt not come out, bit expensive and you do need to blast a lot onto bolt, but better than drilling Normfest Super Crack Ultra 400ml
Product Code: NOR28944421.
And try and keep the jokes clean
Thanks will get some ordered

I wouldn't recommend an impact driver on exhaust studs. They will just snap off.
Thanks, This was just an impulse purchase not really for the studs, I'm leaving them for now
-
Ha thanks, might even try and return it at LIdl.
Then look for electric one.
-
OK, think I'm going to park this for now, getting stressed and breaking sockets albeit cheap ones probably not great for me at the moment.
I also managed to pick up a cheap impact driver earlier. however, what I didn't know is that I need an air compressor, doh!! which I don't have. I just assumed it ran off a power socket. Is there any way kind of power converter I can get. The air compressors look like pricey even the small ones.
In other medical related news. Had my biopsy on Monday had to stay in overnight because slight bleed on biopsy area, apparently tly quite usual. Results on Tuesday.... Been a long w3ek waiting.

Nice, enjoy it!!

Thanks will be buying new studs/nuts as replacements.
-
Got ur nuts off yet?
Ha, not yet. will have another look tomorrow
-
Thanks,
I don't have any plusgas but have ben soaking them with a penetrating spray. Need to buy a gas torch too.
-
No drama!! Nothing broken yet.
I'm just anticipating some trouble with the sump nut when I change the oil next. I wanted to do a proper job and remove the sump to fix/replace the thread. But I need to remove the exhaust first which means removing the header nuts.
HIOWEVER, they look like this, pretty mangled and I cant even get sockets on them. Is there any way to tackle these or is this maybe a job too far?
Thanks all

buy a solar charger for the battery, remove the fire risk and the expense.
Like it any recommendations? I had a look around but ideally I want a connection wire that is fixed to the battery rather than messing about with crocodile clips.
Something like this one perhaps? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/battery-charging-12v-solar-panel-for-12-volt-batteries/150825687659?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649

Didn't someone on here have the front sprocket nut fall off on an R6 some time ago?
As others have said, check the splines on the front sprocket and gearbox output shaft......
Yarp, was on my FZ6, fairly common with Yahamas so I have since read. I use locking washer and threadlock now, no problems since.

Thanks, good point, Hadn't even considered(trying not too) about the fact it might be left for months.
-
Ok so I have a long spell off work and may not even be able to ride again, real bad times, but to keep active I'm going to continue to tinker with my bike.
I have a new motobatt battery to fit. I have a factory fitted yahama alarm, is there anything I need to take into consideration before changing the battery or is it a simple case of negative off, positive off swap battery and reconnect??
Thanks all

I try to do as much as I can on my own, with a few balls ups along the way. Hence my numerous pitstop posts

Probably overheating. The fan comes on to reduce coolant temperature, but may not be enough to satisfy engine parameters within ECU. Find a suitable chemical to flush out your cooling system or just replace coolant with fresh and maybe fit a temperature gauge in a coolant line. Also check your thermostat.
Coolant was changed last year so could always do that again. Checking the thermostat will require a little research I think

Engine warning light came on and you ignored it for 5mins??
Let's hope it wasn't an overheating issue...
If you suspect overheating, stop the bike and let it cool don't continue to ride risking engine damage.
Yes it was a dick move looking back. In a hurry places to be etc etc

Looking for some advice on something a little strange that happened today.
Riding through town around midday, it was hot and was in stop/start in traffic. Fan was cutting in and out as it should and was working fine. Then the engine warning light came on. There was no performance drop or anything of not. It stayed on for around 5 mins until I was outside oftown and as soon as I got above 30mph the light went out and never came back on. I ran the diagnostic mode when I got home and nothing shows up.
Could the be a temperature related issue??
