That is the exact chain I have ordered BUT dumb question coming up. Is a disc lock only for use on brake discs? mine is a drum brake.

Why?? Just trying to help you avoid those nasty little tea-leaves. Most big cities have secure bike parking facilities these days - which you seem to have identified. But even without those its a case of carrying a decent chain or disc-lock in a rucksack and being aware of any damage or changes to the security or chains etc. Don't let this put you off No worries, only kidding. I ordered a chain last night aswell as a rucksack to put it in.

Planning ahead for my commute to work i'm looking for some guidance on what I need to get me started. I will be leaving the bike in a city centre car park which has its own designated motorcycle area and has cctv. I have checked the bikes that are using the parking bay now and some use a chain some don’t seem to use anything( 4 bikes max are parked there now). Bearing in mind mine is a very old CG125 it probably isn’t that appealing to any lowlifes in the area, which isn’t a bad area if I’m honest so I was thinking of just a standard chain and lock. I have read Oxford are not recommended. Home security is ok for now. The bike is left is the back garden and there is no way to move it out (unless they also steal both of the cars on driveway of course)

Well done you too, I know exactly what you mean. Going to find somewhere quiet and try to pick up where I left off. It was roasting hot today on the training ground too, no so bad out on the road. Not that confident yet but I remember this novice feeling from 21 years ago when I first drove a car. practice practice practice for me.

I think I made hard work of it too if I'm honest. Much respect to you guys though, it's much harder than it looks. Think it was around 11am today and I thought this isn't for me but then thought I'm only 2 hours after never being on a bike before so kept at it. It was paired with a lad on a scooter and he was smugly zipping about everywhere, I was struggling with the gears. First time out on the road and was absolutely bricking it, got bollocked a few times and by the end thought it was really making progress but by then it was 4pm and session over. Got my cert, now need to get insurance, tax and get back out there and put the practice in.

Just had a quick search and the helmet comes up as £160. is that the sort of price im looking at or have i chosen the wrong model? Also i was thinking about a flip front style, i wear glasses so thought it might be more practical

So following on from a previous thread I'm a little step closer. I'm booked in for my CBT a week on Saturday. Missed out on a spot today by literally minutes, so I was pretty gutted on Thursday Two weeks seems a heck of a long time to wait Anyway the Cg125 is mine if I want it (which I do). So now i'm looking at gear, helmet, clothing etc. Would the Black range be a good starting point at budget gear?? Just need something to get me started really. Thanks all.
