  1. Nickki how come your not touring? and what day you arriving?
  2. sounds good, what time do you reckon to be at Hartside? will see if any bods from up here are interested we meet up in Dumfries 10ish and usually head out about 10:30, so should get to Hartside between 12 and 12:30
  3. put me down for this un. WOOHOO
  4. looking forward to meeting you lot on the 3rd , just don't leave me at hartside lookin like billy no mates . Watching Chapelcross cooling towers getting blown up this Sunday then heading for the Borders, taking the Pan mainly cos the Bandit's tyres are just about sh@gged and I can't afford new ones for a month or so.
  5. what's the weather got to do with it 8)
  6. meet you at Hartside cos I'll go down the A6 to Penrith then cut inland.
  7. Yep, and all on black 1250 Bandits
  8. Big groups are OK cos they tend to split into smaller groups (pods) of similar pace, though it can be a real pain for the "sweeper". Rule of thumb is to keep the bike behind you in your mirrors and all stop at the next designated rest/refuelling point until the last bike arrives, if there are a lot of junctions between stops then you use can the "drop off" system. Our local IAM group always have at least 20 bikes on the monthly full day rideout and space the peeps with bike 2 bike through the group so every 3rd-5th rider is in contact with the pods ahead and behind. We also work on group riding and it really pays of when you go through a town/village or summat 20+ bikes all riding in perfect compact formation. Maybe I'm sad but if I'm near the back and can see all those bikes in front holding perfect station or the 2 lines merging in total synch it really looks soooooooooooooo cool.
  9. If I go it'll be on 4 wheels, not biking 8hrs on M6 in November. I may be crazy but I'm not insane
  10. usually some dozy tosser in his MOT reject that does it on purpose, otherwise it can be any of the above simply coz it never occurs to them. I always wave back to the kids (future bikers) and always try to wave thanks to peeps that let me filter or pull in, if we all did this then they might finally get the idea that bikers aren't all a bunch of slack jawed to55ers and we can all get along better.
  11. waiting to hear from pipeman re Sunday but will keep an eye on what peeps are doing just in case. Monday is just another workday here , trying to shift as many cattle as I can up to the hills so I can get a couple of days off towards the end of the month . Also erindors has just had an op tonight so will be running in and out with clean nighties, flowers, grapes and stuff.
  12. on the road ALWAYS too many tossers out there in the fields depends what I'm doing, if I'm just checking stock then usually no lid (depends on the terrain) great feeling riding along with the wind blowing through whats left of my hair but if I'm droving stock then the lid goes on cos you have to hammer it and do tight turns so guaranteed to come of at least once
  13. recomend the Balmoral Hotel in Moffat for one of your stops (keen to encourage bikers to stay with them, every road out of there is truly class and lead onto others which are just as good, the routes you take depends how much time you intend to spend on the bike but off the top of me head I can think of an alldayer through that'd end at loch Lomond on nothing but truly awesome roads both in terms of scenery and riding. Note to self - must do that run sometime, in the mean time keep it to myself . oh and I'm sure we could find you a corner of a field to camp in not sure I'm going to be able to do lejog or a trackday this year, in which case I'd be happy to guide you on one of the legs of your trip
  14. just the usual D&G IAM meet tomorrow heading down to Lloyd Honda at Carlisle for a play on their toys, might head out for an hour or so today
  15. There ya go edo http://www.tanhillinn.com/
  16. about 8 miles south of Brough (A66) twisty n steep single track to get to it but fun road, great food and scenery
  17. put me down as a probable. I'm calculating my costs base to base as 10*20litres = 2k miles £180 B&B*5 £250 eats/drink £100 £530 say £550 if we have a support vehicle then we pay equal shares towards that. Costs of which will depend on what vehicle we take, my bike trailer is light enough to be towed by a mini. If in the end I can't make it my trailer would still be available FOC as long as it comes back in the condition it leaves.
  18. Have a look around for the oldstyle Caberg Justissimo, superb lid going for under £100 now as they've just brought out a newer version (personally I prefer the old style ones)
  19. Done the same, will text if we can't make it.
  20. No probswill aim for midday at Tanhill though god knows how long it'll take to get erindors to get kitted up if I make it I'll will be on a blue ST1100 wiv a redhead on pillion
  21. OK erindors has given the green light so should make it just post what time at Tanhill.
  22. thanks pid, reckon I can get there in 1 1/2 hrs without disturbing plod too much, can't make it this month but should make future runs
