  1. excellent well done, i passed mine a week and a half ago and I'm still smiling
  2. oh crikey, that is bad news. When you do pass you'll have earned it for sure.
  3. I think you maybe right, not sure, but I think you can take the cbt on a twist and go and still ride a geared bike when you pass. However if you do your A2 on an automatic, then you have to stick to it. If I'm wrong I'm sure somebody will put me right
  4. Thanks all. Houltmac, nerves are normal as long as you control them, and use them to sharpen your concentration - then they can be a positive thing. I had a ride round with my instructor before the test and he took me on the route (unknowingly to me). We made sure my road position was correct, that I was doing all my lifesavers, that I was handling junctions ok, couple of hill starts, one way streets, STOP junctions not just Give Way junctions. Previous to this I had 6 hours training the day before, and to be honest my head was full of things, but it all made the actual test easier. All you have to do is ride safely and normally for 30 minutes without making any mistakes if poss. I had two minors, one was not signalling to move out from a stop, and the other was hesitation. I felt it just wasn't safe to pull out - the traffic was heavy and the gaps small, I erred on the side of caution / safety and waited, knowing this would only result in a minor, rather than pulling out and taking a risk of a fail if I had made someone brake hard. It was very windy and very heavy showers, but they didn't cause me any problems, so just book it up and don't worry, the examiner was a good friendly chap too.
  5. Bye bye L plates forever!!! Lovely feeling, think I'll have me a beer tonight now Cheers Dave
  6. thank god, have had a virus all week and felt terrible, but hey, its done and dusted. It seemed easier in the compound than it did at the training centre, super grippy surface though. What a fiddle it all is now with these modules. Phew, cheers all Dave
  7. Excellent well done Ollie!! Quentin, my module 1 is not until 28th July. I found the theory easy too, but you know when the pressure is on you can muck up, and I really want to get my full license. Good luck on the 9th mate!!
  8. Thanks all, I guess that was the easy bit, I don't know anyone that has taken the new test and passed which is a bit unsettling, I asked my instructor what his pass rate was on the new test and he changed the subject rather quickly we'll see, I know I am good enough to be riding, its just whether you make a little error that in their eyes is unsafe - like touching a cone FFS!! Dave
  9. now onto Module 1 & 2, there doesn't seem to be many that have done the new test here, so I will let you know how it is. cheers and thanks for your tips ref the theory test.)
  10. Thanks, yes I am a car driver but did my test over 20 yrs ago. I am a cyclist aswell and ride around 150-200 miles a week so am pretty well clued up on hazards, as with a motorbike I just assume everyone is out to get me!! The only downside on the hazard perception practice is that I am an Apple computer user and most of these things are Windows. I know that the pass rate is 43 in the theory, what is it in the Hazard Perception?
  11. Hi, I have my theory test booked for 23rd June, and have subscribed to the 30 day trial test on the DSA website, I have also bought a copy of the Highway Code. In your combined experience, is this enough to help me get through? thanks, Dave
  12. do you guys use a swing arm stand or axle nut stand? as the left hand nut on my bike is very small (the sort where you loosen the right and tap it through).
  13. Those ABBA stands are great, I'll have a look at one of those. Cheers.
