  1. *phew* Just remember when you are applying thread lock you don't need to use loads otherwise you'll never get the bloody thing out when you try and take it off next time.
  2. A torque wrench isn't a substitute for thread lock i'm afraid. If you over tighten the bolt then you could end up doing more damage. I would just bit the bullet and get some, you will undoubtedly find more nuts and bolts that require it. Sorry.....
  3. also meant to say you can get an after market exaust but it comes in at around £250 i think so a little too much.
  4. if you have a megaphone style exhaust then i have no idea how to go about it, that's what mine had and i couldn't find any way to debaffle it with out possible trashing the exhaust. what i did was pick up a cheap second hand exaust off ebay which has the screwed in baffle and thne removed it. i've only had it on for a week or so but the sound is absolutely immense (for a 125 ), my neighbours definitely don't like me much. on the down side the bike feels slower and it does pop a lot on the over run. i'm going to pull the plug in a week or so just to check that it's not running overly lean. so if you just tend to pootle round town and want a better sound then go for it, but if you travel on lots of long fast bits of road i'd leave it as is (your ears will love you more )
  5. awesome. what is it, any pics? I'm actually quite surprised to see that 8 people so far have ticked the cruiser box. I didn't think that there were 8 people on this forum that liked cruisers
  6. Just because you can't go as fast doesn't mean you won't have as much fun. Get a cruiser.
  7. ] if the bandit 400 is monoshock like the 600 you might be able to get a jack up kit but it will effect the handling, making the bike turn in quicker. as mentioned you might be better adjusting the gear linkage by either turning it and then putting it back on one spline more/less or winding out the bar between the two pivots on the gear change mechanism. Adjusting the shock length is going to have no affect on the seat to gear change distance. I think your best bet is adjusting the gear linkage. It's not a particularly tricky job but if you're really unsure then have someone else do it. It shouldn't take much the longer than 10 minutes for someone who knows what they are doing.
  8. might it be possible to take the seat off, then take the cover off, pack it with more foam (or whatever is used) and then recover it? or perhaps you can adjust the gear selector to make it a little more comfortable?

    Bike keeps jolting

i don't think it sounds like clutch slip either. To me it sounds like it could either be a dirty air filter, or fuel/carburettor related. Air filter is the easiest to check/change so would suggest that first failing that try taking the carb off and giving it a good clean.
  10. There is only one place i've found on line that sells aftermarket exhausts for 125cc cruisers clicky
  11. Is this any help? ebay clicky i'm pretty sure they do fit, but don't quote me on that!
  12. and it can run down the barrel into the sump as found on early the TLs
  13. when running overly rich you can also encounter what is known as bore washing which is where the excess fuel strips the oil from the cylinder walls which as you can imagine is not particularly good.
  14. i wear HG Panther II jacket and pants predominantly because they were the only "off the shelf" leathers that were a good fit being that they come in a longer version for tall skinny people like me i also wear Swift Torsion X boots as they were in my price range, comfrtable and have the added bonus of being waterproof although they are a bit too "racey" for my liking, i would have prefered something a little plainer. and finally i use Alpinestars SP-3 gloves again because they were in my price range and i wanted something thin so that i could feel the controls as i'm still learning hope this helps
  15. I don't have any experience with any of the above, but i have a pair of Swift Torsion X boots that are fully water proof and not too expensive. May be worth a look?
