  1. I have a Dainese Hydra Flux D-Dry summer jacket. It’s at the upper end of your price bracket but it’s a mesh jacket that has a removable waterproof liner. Nice cooling airflow and should you get caught out you can put the liner back in and stay dry too.

    It's a nice looking jacket.

Any idea what exactly is" boomerang mesh"?

One of the issues that stood out is many brands have their own version of textile and it seems impossible to know which ones would actually protect you in a slide.

Nope! No idea of what “boomerang mesh” is! So here’s some photos.....

Like you say, it’s difficult to know without seeing it how it would protect you, but I’m really confident this jacket. I take the view that I’ll spend as much as I can afford on gear, as I’d rather have it and not need it, than be sliding down the road wishing I’d spent more on something!

This is a close up of the outside mesh.....

This is from the front/side inside of the jacket looking out, it kinda has a liner between the inside and the mesh

This is the back. This doesn’t have the same liner, apart from where the back protector pocket is fitted. I have the back protector fitted.

This the exterior of the waterproof liner at the shoulder/arm. The interior of the waterproof liner has a softer cotton like feel to it.

IMO it’s worth spending out for. Hopefully you can see it’s well ventilated and gives good airflow. I’ve been wearing it over the last few weeks and it’s certainly kept me cool. And the liner gives it a bit more flexibility with keeping the wind chill and rain off.

Hope this helps. If you want any more pics just let me know.

  2. Bit of a thread resurrection.....

But still, if you’re looking for a good bike meet, try Two Wheel Tuesday, which as the name suggests is every Tuesday at the Ox and Plough pub in Old Buckenhem.

Cheers. I didn't know about this, and it's a nice ride from home. :thumb:

This was last Tuesday, and probably 100+ bikes by my guestimation. Which as the weather was forecast as a bit questionable was a good turnout. At the height of summer the green is packed and 500+ bikes maybe. And a good mix of types of bikes and people. I’m there as often as I can be and should be there tomorrow too.

  4. Sue and I are going to Europe next year,

Sept 16 for 2 weeks probably Germany,

in a campervan if we've bought one in time,

if not with the caravan 8-)

Is this an offer? Will you allow the gaggle of bikes following behind to use your fridge? If you do buy a camper van.... Get one with a big fridge... A very big fridge. (You're gonna need it.)

In fact, it might be best if you get two fridges... One for food and beer, the other... Just for beer. Oh... And a large freezer compartment for ice. Lots of ice.

    I’m in!!! :D :D

  5. “Henry Hicks was fleeing officers”

“He was found to be carrying seven bags of skunk cannabis and multiple phones.”

"We won't stop fighting for accountability for Henry's death. We miss him every day."

What about his own accountability? He was the one that didn’t stop. He was the one in control of the situation, not the police. He fails to stop, police pursue. He stops, police don’t pursue. Think the family should be looking at his actions, not those who were doing their jobs.

  6. I have a Vango Stelvio for rallies and if it is wet. It is made for bikers with space for wet kit. I pack it back into a dry bag I got from Aldi.

I've just found a Vango Tour which is similar to the Stelvio. Not seen one in the flesh so be interesting to see what it's like when it turns up!

The Vango Tour does look decent but it's mighty heavy! I'd rather save weight and have the bike outside, perhaps with a cover on.

That's my only concern. It's a tad over 9kg. However it's the space which interests me in case of wet kit. My second choice is the vango omega 250 which seems to have a reasonable amount of space but not the height. And is about 4kg lighter. My plan was to give it a go and I picked it up for a decent price so worst case scenario I sell it on and pick something else up.

  7. Upgraded to something a bit bulkier but more spacious and a little porch on it the Vango Omega 250, this i could comfortably have 2 people + gear inside (though whoever shares with me beware!!) A bit trickier to pitch but much more comfortable and great having somewhere to sit and either cook or put my boots on, which is where the banshee falls down in my book.

Recently used go out doors price match to get the omega for £130 approx

I've been having thoughts about tents too. When planning to be away for a week or so hotels soon add up. Was looking at the Omega 250 as it had the groundsheet bit in the porch.

What sort of size is it when it's packed down?
