  1. Afternoon all, I've very kindly been given a second hand pair of Dainese Goretex textile trousers. Whilst its low importance now the sun is finally with us.... the zip-in thermal liner trousers weren't included. Without me spending vast amounts of time searching online - does anyone know of anywhere that could supply these without having to buy the actual trousers they go in?! Never seen any advertsied in the usual places, and reluctant to go direct to Dainese as i'll be paying full cost which i'd like to avoid if possible. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks all, enjoy the weather!! jackass
  2. thanks to all for the opinions. Although £20 more than the tinted, i went for another iridium (pinlock), due to a) i really got on with the second hand one until it got too scratched (partly my own fault when cleaning), and b) i live in my iridium Oakley sunnies, so know that type of lens works for me. I do secretly want to treat myself at the end of the year to a second helmet, which would then enable me to go with the tinted visor as well! Dave
  3. I have an Arai RX7 Corsair, and have a clearvisor with pinlock insert for everyday or naff weather use. When i got into biking a friend gave me an old multi-cloured iridium visor to use, which i have really liked. Its was already past its best, but after a few too many wipe downs the finish has gone very bad and i'm not happy with the visibility. I need a new bright weather visor, and although more expensive, would definitely prefer to get a pinlock version as i really benefitted from it. Whilst 99% of me wants another iridium visor, having had a look at the prices on Ebay (but don't panic, plan to buy it from elsewhere!), the cost has put me off a bit (what with a 2 week old baby now in charge of my wallet...), and so am also considering a v.dark tint visor instead. The vain part of me thinks both tinted and iridium look brilliant, but i am a little concerned about the level of vision through the tinted. I do suffer a lot in bright light when biking or driving, so do genuinely need a good blocker of bright light. Oh, and i only ride a Honda CBF 600, so am never going to look like something from Moto GP whichever one i go for!!) Any thoughts opinions from users of either? Any suggestions re where to buy from, before i dedicate the night to surfing online (after X Factor of course..) Did i just say that out loud?!?! Cheers in advance Dave
  4. Hi all, have just very excitedly posted on bikes about picking up my first bike tomorrow (Honda CBF600). I sorted out all my kit last year at the B'ham Bike Show, and got an Arai helmet, Lovely Spidi textile jacket (bit longer than waist length) with back protector, Dianese Goretex textile trousers, and some Alpinestars Goretex boots. The reason i got the Gucci waterproof kit is because the bike will be my only transport, and a daily commuter. Its also intended for national and eventually international touring with my friend/s. For some reason, i've suddenly started panicking that my kit isn't going to be great all year round. I'm fully aware of the good and bad points of Goretex as i love the outdoors and have lots of Goretex kit, and i'm thinking that as soon as the weather goes dry/warm, my textiles are going to be a bit OTT. I'm particularly worried about the boots, which i'm very happy with, but think they will get superwarm, and as they are designed as a waterproof tourer, don't have any exterior protection. I know that generally leathers will offer me greater protection in an off, but for longer journeys / touring, which will be better all round? I even bunked off work for an hour and went trying on 2 piece leathers today, which was great fun. Not sure whether it was a good thing or not, but i just didn't find any that felt quite right (only had Richa and Alpinestars there), so i came away empty handed. Do experienced riders who have similar riding requirements have any thoughts? Should i treat myself as a one off and get some leathers and better boots for good weather, or am i worrying over nothing, and be happy with what i have (yes, both jacket and trousers have removable thermal liner). Any thoughts very appreciated. Dave
  5. As i'm doing my best to wait till New Year before forking out for my first bike, AND being stuck at work at this silly hour, thought i would keep myself busy with a couple of those questions you're almost too embaressed to ask! 1) What is a Scottoiler, and what does it do exactly? All i know is they are an aftermarket thing, and something to do with better chain maintainence / wear. 2) Whats the difference in the tints and iridiums on aftermarket visors? I know the obvious about how much light they let through, and wearing a tint on a bright day is a good idea, but always keep the clear to hand in case the Police stop you.... but i have a pair of Iridium Oakleys that are superb. When the weather is poo they brighten it all up and make it crystal clear, and when the the weather is super bright, they keep it crystal clear but do the job of a pair of sunglasses. They are just a kinda brown colour lens. Does an iridium visor do the same thing, but with a slight colour tint, like gold, silver or blue as i've seen? Thanks all - especially those that answer at the same time of night as i'm typing!!
