  1. Hi folk, I have been collecting a few parts for my Fazer and probably like many of us have found it all on EBay. As I live in the Isle of Man it is often quite difficult to get stuff here and equally problematic getting bits posted to me; in fact some won't deal with the IoM or the postage is more than the item. Anyway I happened to find a seller in the south of England who has helped me source parts I needed and is probably the best person I have dealt with on EBay, his EBay contact/name is gregtickner (937Purple Star). He breaks bikes and would be pleased to hear from you should you need some bike spares; he was very fair with me and included postage costs and was quick to deal. Check him out Bill
  2. Hi folk, I am getting on with sorting out my Fazer around 98/99 year, and thanks again to all those who have helped me and pointed me in the right direction so far. The bike is a gold coloured model and I need to get some paint to patch it up here and there. However most of the webpages I have been on don't list my colour, on the colour ID plate on the bike it list a number 5DM4-070 and a letter D and according to a chart the shade is DOURADO. Can anyone tell me if this is indeed the gold shade I have and where can I get some for touch up use? Regards to all. Bill.
  3. Hello to all on here and late seasons greeting for Christmas and all the best for the New Year. Not been on here for a while, other things have kept me busy and of course the Christmas holiday. Anyway, thanks again to all those people who pointed me in the right direction regarding the carburettors on my 600 Fazer. I now have them off the engine and have discovered that the reason the butterflies were not working/opening was because the whole set of carbs were jammed tight with what look like some kind of glue. Nothing was moving at all the fuel needles were stuck in the main jets and the fuel float needles were solid. I am getting it resolved with a can of carb cleaner and meticulously cleaning thoroughly. I guess the bike had been standing a bit longer than I had imagined. Hopefully the bike will soon be ready to fire up and if this proves a problem I will be back to ask why…….
  4. Hi all, Just like to say thanks for the warm welcome on here, and all the advice and help offered. Maybe if someone out there has an antiquated old British bike, say from around the late 50s and they need help............................I could return the favour.
  5. Thanks for all the advice Matty, I've been around bikes for ever but this is a learning curve for me, I am enjoying it though. I have seen some comments about the Japanese screwdriver bits, I must get some.
  6. Service manual on it's way............in the post. Thanks for the comments PM on this
  7. Hello people. I have a 98/99 Yamaha Fazer 600 it came as a non runner and having stood a while. I have noticed that the throttle will not open and I am assuming that this maybe due to it's inactivity; it's not the twist grip or the cable, they are free. I am in the process of removing the carbs to clean them and have noticed the electronic unit on the right hand carb which runs in line with the butterfly spindle. I am wondering if this unit has any bearing on the movement of the throttle. Any thoughts on this will be welcome. This is my first venture into relatively modern machinery I have mostly been brought up on the old British classics, so I am on unfamiliar ground with most things Japanese. Thanks in advance
