  1. if the rubber strap is not holding the airfilter/valve seals propperly then would oil etc get in there? if thats the case then i can fix it for about £65. will get some pics asap
  2. oil level was fine when i noticed the oil leak, so not added any oil
  3. also one last thing, the last time i used my bike i started it after a fag break and lots of smoke came out of the exhaust. i could then see a little bit of smoke in my mirrors when ever i accelerated. since then i have not used it as i dont want to make the problem any worse.
  4. hey, I have a Triumph TT600 2002 motorbike. when i was on my bike on a motorway my bike started to make a deeper (kinda throaty) noise. i slowed down and when the revs went below 5k the noise stopped. when i went over 5k it started again. the noise only happens when i'm accelerating aswell btw. when i got to my destination about 5 min later i noticed an oil leak. i had a quick look b4 i got on my bike to go home and it seemed ok to ride. the oil was only leaking when the bike was running and even then it was very minor. the next day i stripped my bike down to fix the leak, removed the farings and fuel tank. there was a small hose that was not connected so i put it bk on to where i think it came from. put it bk together checked the oil and all seemed good. when i rode it next it was still making the noise but the leak seemed to be fixed. i've only used my bike when i have had to and now its leaking oil again. one thing i noticed was that the rubber strap that holds the air filter down seems a little perrished so i will replace that. also i was thinking if that is the problem then maybe i should also replace the rubber seals and springs that seal the cylinders. my thought is that the noise is caused but the cylinders not being sealed propperly (maybe also the oil problem aswell) anyone got any thoughts? i will get pics tomorro and add them here to explain abit easier Allan
  5. hey, just an update. i got a battery charger and i leave it on all the time so my battery is always fully charged. my alarm does drain the battery abit if i dont ride it for a while. this charger is degigned to support alarms etc so it does not over charge. it also does battery diagnostics. now when i first ride my bike (after its been charging) it all works fine. i can ride with my lights on, i can indecate, and i can even use the brakes... lol the speedo also works as it should. but after awhile (about 30min) of riding it starts to play up again. so i think its a dead cell in my battery. my battery did die over the winter so i bought a new one in january (must admit it was a cheap one from e-bay) so i'm thinking i just need a new battery and all will be good. fingers crossed. till then i can still use my bike as work is only 10 mins away so all is good for now.
  6. the reading was fluctuating from 13.4 to 16 if thats any help. my mate said the bttery was charging but the reading was ot steady, it was jumping all over the place. also another thing i have noticed is that if i have my lights on, indicators, brake lights ect the speedo goes funny, so basically anything other than driving constanlty at 4-5k revs its a problem al
  7. just remembered another thing to add, my engine management waring light is now on!
  8. just another thing, there were some cables that come from the speedo exposed. they were not tucked in behind the faring. could the connectors have got wet and causing this problem? i have now put them back to where thay should be. al
  9. hey, i have a triumph tt600 and i have a problem. the first time i noticed a problem was when the digital speedometer display was flickering, it was lighting up all the digital lights, going totally blank, then it was fine. it was doing this all the way home. then the next day it would not start. i got it goin with a little bump start but the speedo display was still not working propperly. then it would not start again when i was about to come home from work. i luckly park in a multistory car park so i managed to bump start it on a ramp. the next day i had to jump start it from my car battery. i drove for about an hour (my journey to work is only about 20mins) and the speedo was fine. i got a mate to look at it with an electric meter and he said my battery reading was off. it was not stable and only sometimes got a reading saying my alternator was charging. so his thinking ws that an alternator should fix it, or each week recharge my battery (trickle charge) all the time i was at my mates house the speedo was fine, but all the way home it was playing up again. this morning i still had to jump start it off my car and the speedo is still flickerine etc. what i have noticed tho is that if i keep the revs at 4-5k and keep it constant the speedo display is fine, does that then mean if i drive tike that the altinator is charging? it means that my ride isn't as fun, but atleast it get me from A to B. do you think a new altinatorn (battery charge each week) will fix the problem or do you think its something else? Al
  10. thanks for all your help. i think the best thing to do is get the servise done early. if the diragram is anything to go by i dont want to cause any damage to my engine! (the symbol is the same as no. 13!)
  11. how will my local help? will my bike buy me a pint? lol! i will take it and have it checked out! thinking about it its due for a service soon anyway. thanks
  12. hey, i have a triumph tt600, and i have not been out on it for a while. one thing i have noticed is near the speedo there are two warning lights. one for oil and another one. the pic buy the light is of an engine. do u knoiw what this means? i think its the emissions, cos the same symbol came up on my car when the cat went. what do you think? al
  13. ok, so i need to make sure it fits perfect and then get the most expensive one i can afford!
  14. hey, i'm looking to get a lid soon and i know its best to make sure it fits etc but is the SHARP tests a good guide to go by? http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle- ... system.htm i thought all arai lids were good but the condor only got a 2 out of 5! also the shoei XR-1000 got a 3 out of 5! is there another safety rating guide i can also use to see what helmit i can buy! my budget will be ab out £400 for the lid! as a guide the Shoei Raid II fits my head fine! it is rated 4 out of 5, but i'd like to get the most safe lid i can!
