  1. Okay thanks for the replies Have a gud un where ever ya end up
  2. Shame, hope ya get it sorted soon This is being led by one of our bike tutors and one of the riders is ready for his Rospa test, so there will be a chance for Q&A if you can get a word in at the stops as well as some feedback if you fancy?
  3. provided its not chucking it down, my local Rospa group is offering to lead a rideout down to Helmsley from Easington this Saturday. (edit) Meet at Helmsley for coffee about 11.30 then off along the Pickering road past Fylingdales to his fav chippie and maybe back to Lord Stones at Chopgate for buns... well thats the rough plan anyway. The basic plan is to ride from Stokesely to Helmsley on the B1257 - (Helmsley TT) for Ice Cream / Fish and chips. Meet Hawthorn Service Station on the A19 just past the Seaham interchange at 9.45 for 10.00. Pace will be within speed limits and no overtaking within the group Anyone planning on being about/ wanting to join in? Maybe a good introduction to the Rospa system.. but dont watch me, Ive not even started my training yet! Stick ya name down on here if youre interested n pm me your mobile number and I'll look out for ya (blue vfr800 - I'll be easy to spot being female and riding my own bike )
  4. http://www.viamichelin.com/viamichelin/ ... image2.y=0 where it is http://www.transportcafe.co.uk/hartsidetop.html the cafe http://www.visitcumbria.com/pen/hartside.htm the roads leading up to it (nice!) weekends are manic especially if its warm, though you can expect anything up there. Better to try an afternoon ride, catch a cuppa and head back to the Lion for the meet there? I usually go via Crook then Frosterley and up past the Lion at St john Chapel (oh they have a bike meet on a wednesday evening too) on the a689. Alternatively you can ride the A686 from say Hexham and enjoy a good ride on some great roads. You never been? the roads up are awesome.. going over the top to Penrith is a bit more tricky but worth it to drop down into Ulswater but the nice sweeping bends on our side are great and challenging enough even when staying inside the speed limit but Ive been overtaken going up there, though I cringe as theres been a few bike fatalities along the route. Theres a few different ways to go from here.. depends on how difficult you like your roads to be honest, some of the routes are easier than others Was thinking of taking a ride up there, been too long since I was up that way, the bridge was out the other week when we tried to come back that way Keep us posted Ally
  5. Anyone up for it??? We're busy doing the First bike on scene course on the 7th, but tempted to fit one of the other days ... Northumbria Police have two weekends of their cornering clinics. the date are 30th and 31st aug also 6th and 7th sep, if you have not been to one try it, if you have done one the format has changed. the venue has also altered the 30th and 6th are at county hall morpeth, the other venue is at tyne and wear fire and rescue HQ washington on the 31st and 7th. "The aim of the clinics will be to explain to riders the importance of good skills, with examples of what can go wrong and how to improve their riding. The Cornering Clinics have been adopted by other forces as part of the national "Bikesafe" scheme. Bikers are encouraged to attend the training sessions, which are free and last about two hours from 10am to 12 noon. There is no need to pre-book. After a training session bikers also have the opportunity for a free assessed ride with observers from Northumbria Advanced Motorcycles and Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Drivers and Riders. The observers are advanced riders who have been trained by the police and can provide assistance to bikers to improve their skills. For Further details call 03456 043 043 ext 69409"
  6. hiya, youre both not too far from me... where would you guys be thinking of? theres the wetlands meet on a wed and sunday evening and as Ian says, its easy to persuade us to go to Minchellas or maybe Seahouses for chips? Hartside for lunch, or Helmsley/ Thirsk for coffee and bacon sarnies? Lord Stones has a meet near ChopGate on a Tuesday evening? Scaling Dam near Whitby on a Wednesday evening?
  7. just in case Im putting me baffles in.. no point asking for trouble!
  8. if youre really pushed, you can wear those cheapy disposable plastic gloves like the ones at diesel pumps under your gloves, helps them slide on and off easier and great if they leak in the rain or your hands are sweaty? Latex ones dont work as they grip the inside of the glove even more than your hands. I spent a few wet days riding like that and it did work!
  9. Great idea and well done sorting this for free see you there Ally
