But it's actually big flames continuously from the lower exhaust when I stop, it's not spitting it's like the bike is on fire, but it only happens when I come to a stop and the only way to get the flames out is to turn the engine off

Yes every time I turned it off the flame died

Was just riding home and noticed people staring at at the bike from their cars, I looked down and there was big flames coming out the exhaust, every time I was stopping huge flames were coming out the exhausts

I've tried that but nothing, maybe faulty tbf my switch broke so maybe it's a common fault if you find a cheap replacement switch let me know I'll have a look on eBay and see if I can send you a link -

What year it is? Because I have an intruder and until the selector button broke there was a trip meter you could reset at fill ups then just fill up every 120 miles or so Hello mate it is a 2003 -
I changed the settings and the sparks now this has started, it's one problem after another since I got this from the motorcycle shop near mine, every time I take it back to the garage I seem to have another problem about a week later, feel like they are having me over
