  1. Got a pair of the Hood jeans as they offer far more protective lining than the other jeans, basically a full lining rather than a little bit in the most common areas. Also bought the hip and knee Armour pack to go in them for added protection.

Would recommend the Hood ones as they make them to your particular leg length

  2. I got some Arc-On gloves last summer for £75 and they are the best gloves i've ever worn. Comfy, soft and a high spec for the price. Have a look at their website, only problem is i don't think they are sold in dealers just online. But the guy that does them is reasonable so i'm sure he'd offer a refund if they didn't fit.

  3. :stupid:

Not sure where the 'c' is along the gauge or how high it was going before the change but if there is a big difference between before and after it would set some alarm bells off to me.

Have a check for an air lock and double check the fluid level is right too.

I wouldn't have thought new coolant fluid would make a massive change in the temperature no matter how old the other stuff was.

  4. Also as Jimmi said, one of the most important things to get is a bike cover. The tattier the better (if it's a crappy tatty cover the bike must be crappy too right???)

If they can't see what it is straight away they'd be less likely to nick it as they'd need to lift the cover too see if it's worth nicking.

Basically do everything you can to make the process of them stealing a bike as long and drawn out as possible.

  5. Well my vote would be for the Almax and Squire lock option.

I bought one of these kits recently and am very impressed with it, bloody heavy and i would love to see someone try to hack through that lot!

I also use it with an 'Anti Pinch Pin' from Torc Anchors, it goes through the body of the bike so the chain is attached either end meaning the chain goes through a ground anchor and the bikes wheel and chassis. Just means they can't unbolt the rear wheel and walk off with it.

Also have a search on you tube for Almax Chanis, there's some videos of people trying to cut through the Almax and loads of other chains, the Almax is the one that the hand bolt croppers don't get through

  6. Those Buffalo gloves may look similar (black and white leather) but I don't think they've got anywhere near as much safety tech in them - stingray skin, kevlar patches, double lock cuffs with armoured wrist protector and ring/pinkie finger connection. The arc-on's also look the business whereas the buffalo gloves look like they've stepped in something's business :D

If you want that sort of level of safety tech, I think £75 is cheap in comparison to the market's famous brands. If you aren't bothered/don't believe it makes them any safer then the extra £30 can't justify the better looks.

I might get a pair of these Arc-Ons since I need a new set of gloves to go with my new leathers (maybe not need, more a case of really, really want) Thanks for sharing!

Aye, good point, i did see some gloves for a touch over £200 covered in stingray leather, titanium, kevlar and carbon ect ect..

Taking a better look, those arcons are quite good for the price. :D

Gotta say that those Buffalo gloves doe look remarkably similar but as 2fast2soon said it's all the other safety features that are also on the gloves that sets them apart. They keep getting softer and softer the more i wear em, breaking in nicely and they do look the mutts conkers!

  7. Well i decided to treat myself to a new pair of gloves for the summer. After much research and looking at other gloves i stumbled across a small London based company which make their own stuff, Arc-on. Not heard of them before but after digging around they seemed pretty good with some high spec stuff for reasonable money.

Just bought a pair of their Stinger gloves and have to say they are pretty special. £75 and the spec of them is amazing for the money. Would recommend them if anyone is on the lookout for some new gloves this summer. Only downside is they are internet only, but after an email to them they were happy to refund if not happy with the purchase. They apparently are out and about at shows etc though.

Pic of my gloves below (nicked from their site). I know some won't like the cost, but for £75 their pretty high spec compaired to the same priced gloves from Alpinestars or other big names :D

Just thought i'd share my find

  8. I don't know much about this, but I have seen insurance policies which exclude use on the ring....check yours over carefully

Yup check your policy wording carefullly as i renewed may car insurance last month and they included a policy wording correction sheet with it where they had actually excluded cover if used on the nurburgring. They mentioned it specifically, so double check with them if your not sure......

  9. You get points on your LICENSE. The license includes car, AND bike.

So if u do your car, and get six points, you'd have to do both the car, AND the bike again!

That's how i understood it too. When you get points they get printed on your paper license. You only have one of those shich covers your bike and car license, so the points apply to both too
