not that i'm into the modding scene myself, but apparently the future is liquid cooled.... overclocking by a few hundred percent becomes a reality then.. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Irn+b ... d2cgtLs%3D

thanks for the link. yes, windows would appear to be 30. my bad. although, in my defence, it was hardly used by anyone. the PC was a business tool that cost in the region of 1500 quid.

I don't think windows is 30. Microsoft maybe.. I remember DOS 3.1. no GUI, and no mouse. If you didn't know the commands you were stuffed. you didn't even get a manual to help out. and the internet wasn't invented for another 10 years. (not properly anyhow.)
  7. I'd like to take a moment to welcome you to my world. Every light is too bright. The only reason I use my own is so that others can see me, and then i make a point of pointing them as far down as possible. If i want to see, I look over the top of my glasses. I have come across a few headlights that are extra bright though, and they are like having a small sun pointing at you. You know its badly fitted when you can inspect your nails in the glow...

Aww come on Grandpa! Tell us a story, Please! *Sit down on a rug by an open log fire* damn, now I do feel old. I only turned 40 a couple of months ago!
  9. right, cyclists... I have recently become one. (no proper bike, and I need the exercise) front light is solid, not flashing. it's very difficult to work out how far away a bike is when their only front light is off for half the time. rear light does a night-rider thing, scrolling back and forth. at least people behind me know that I'm not a car! the missus recently got me some armbands, (for want of a better word, and yes, it has been raining a lot recently) with lights on. they flash red. used them for the first time yesterday, and cars actually went AROUND me! (instead of trying to go through me.) at least i was seen! as for the rant. religious people. All of them... especially anyone who starts with "thank jesus" or "thank the lord" in an non-sarcastic way. at the moment those "Christians" are higher on my shit list than the Jehovah Witnesses that knock on the door. Politicians - what a waste of space and time. shoot them all and start again. if they get that shit again, shoot them all and start again. keep doing this until one of two things happen. we run out of people wanting to be politicians, or they stop spouting shit. and I know jesus is spelt with a capital. spell check told me that, but I'll be damned (probably will) if I can be arsed.

  12. I remember hearing a "pause for thought" on Radio 2 some years back about a religous student and teacher. think they were Buddhist... it went something like this, and I'm sorry if i get it wrong. the student disliked the teacher immensely, so, after a few years, when the student was given the opportunity to say what he thought of the teacher, he let rip. every expletive he could come up with was used to describe the otherwise helpful and kind teacher. when he was finished, in front of the other students and teachers, the teacher was given the opportunity to voice his thoughts. he was kind and supportive. didn't say a single thing against the student. the student was amazed. after the rant the he had just made, he thought the teacher would give him both barrels. he was laughing... 2 weeks passed, and someone explained it to him. what you see in others is mearly a reflection of what you see in yourself. by slagging off the teacher, he had only shown how he felt about himself.
  13. Hi all. been a while since I've posted anything on here. Thought I'd share this game I found. the backstory is complete mcguff, so don't pay that any attention, unless you want to. it's a variation on Geocaching, but i feel that the social side is better, (there's 2 teams.) great for exploring new locations, (towns and cities) or just for meeting new people... let me know on PM if you're interested... there's bonuses for introducing new players.
  14. not on a bike (fortunately) for this one. (you'll see why) and a bit late. happened a week ago now. blue transit van (my nomination) that came flying across in front of me, (crossroads. I had right of way) giving me no time to brake. I hit him. just say that my car is a right off, and he got away with a dented wheel. I must say that it was the ONLY time I can think of that I was glad i was in a car. The last 2 years have been my idea of hell... apart from the damage, no personal injury, so very lucky. I was only doing 20.
  15. tried mole grips mate. can't get it to move at all...
  16. the heads are complety off. i've taken the part off so i can get hold of the stud in one case, but the other is complety lost flush witht he hole...
  17. hi guys, since i've not used the bike for a long time now, (it's been in peices) i'm starting to get some stick about it being a waste of space. unsurprisingly. the problem i'm facing at the moment is that i've got a bolt that's just plain stuck. i've soaked it in WD40, and ive tried heating it up, to no avail so far. my biggest problem with this particular bolt is that i've managed to take the head off it. i've actually done it to two in the same section, so i'm after some ideas on how to get these two bolts out... any thoughts?
  18. been out on the bike in all weathers. probably the worst is the hot weather. the temptation to lose some of the protective gear is quite strong. never done it yet... the only thing that will stop me riding though is the snow. i will not get the bike out if there's a chance that i'll drop it before the end of the drive. i've been out in all weathers. it's all an experience. i work from home now though, on remote support, so i don't have to travel. the bike hasn't been out for about 3 months now. still class myself as a all weather biker though
  19. passed sometime in 2005. can't remember, exactly when, and can be bothered to find my liecense (that's not a spelling mistake)...

    bust radiator

hi guys. yes, i still hang about here... i've managed to ding the radiator. pulled up at work and there's water coming out. not massive amounts, (considering i've never really checked the water level before) but certainly enough to worry about. suffice to say that i've now filled the coolant up with water. now to fix it. i've already looked about and it's about 250 quid for a new one!!! the bikes hardly worth that much on a trade in!!! so that's not an option. i've no experience with radweld, so i don't know how long that will hold for. anyone got any ideas for fixing / bodging this? bearing in mind i don't want to spend that much on it, and i've only got this weekend to do it....
  23. susie, thanks for moving this. you'd think after lurking on these pages for so long i'd know where everythign goes. as it turned out, i didn't do it yesterday. g/f suggested that doing it just before i needed the bike to travel to work when there were no shops open to help out was a bad idea. it'll have to wait until next saturday. thanks for the advice guys, i'll make sure i keep the kettle warm!!
  24. hi all, i'm doing an oil and filter change today. i think i've got everything covered. spent about 2 months planning this. got the haynes manual, the oil and filter, even got some spark plugs, (going to do them at the same time.) i'm just wondering if anyone has got any tips on things not to do, before i get cracking on this. yes, i'v ebeen biking for a while, but i've never done this before. thought it was time to get started.
  25. i'm looking at replacing my jacket. had a wander round and i've been seeing a lot of the hi vis yellow on the jackets. i'm not sure what to think of them. anyone got any particular views?
