  1. Haven't been able to do much to the bike but this happened... Got into a incident with a taxi driver who had no license my head may have twitched and accidentally headbutted him when he told me that Its only pushing me to get started. Bars are bent and there's a few scrapes so bars will be changed first and tank filled/painted
  2. Had a day off today so got around to doing some work on the bike. I took the clutch cable off last night and put it in a bag full of cheap lubricant oil, left it overnight. Took it out this morning wiped excess oil away and refitted it, clutch cable is very smooth again. Saved myself £10-£15 Oil change was second on the list, it was 500 miles over due Last job was taking the 52L top box and rack off. I've just gone to another company which doesn't require me to take any radios etc etc with me to work so the top box and rack are no longer needed Seat off Rack off Seat back on Could a mod please move this thread to the project section?
  3. Thanks, I'm going to see what if anything taking the cable off and soaking it in oil overnight does first. Might just be that I've not lubed it up in months. (Yes insert another immature joke here) but I'll definitely use that seller should I need a new one, prices aren't as bad as others I've seen.
  4. Have been busy working and riding, sorted out a couple of issues but got plenty more to deal with now headlight is now secure and working properly, no more high beam is low beam and low beam is high beam bollocks. Adjusted chain and rewired rear indicators after the left only came on when the front one was on-on right. Oil change is due again, in fact I'm 450 miles overdue. Got to try and stretch it out another two weeks as I need to buy another 17mm socket and somebody has nicked mine the clutch cable either needs a good soak in some oil or replacing too as its gone really stiff (insert immature joke here) and there's plenty of corrosion/rust that needs to be dealt with. But as per usual it keeps trundling on, on its commuting duties.
  5. That's just someone born in Walsall. They all look like idiots glad I'm originally from a much better place
  6. Been riding quite a lot in the last week, clocked up just over 1500 miles in total. I've had a couple of lessons with my instructor whenever he has had cancelations, first lesson was covering mod1 stuff which he thinks I'll fly through second lesson was a four hour long road ride session working on my fears. Ive also been riding a lot with a family friend, somehow did prestatyn and back via the long mynd and we went to bakewell to buy a bakewell tart via snake pass. while I've been slowing him down (he rides a K1600GT) its been good to get the miles in. Theory has been booked and is in three weeks time Quick video, still not great but a lot better than I was before I think. https://youtu.be/kO1YA04Kv3w
  7. Chest mount. Perks of being a doorman, the company gives us technology to play with like body cameras, tablets, torches etc etc the chest mount is from my body worn camera at work but fits my kitvision escape hd5 perfectly.
  8. DISCLAIMER I'm not trained in any way these are just my thoughts and observations 1. Does your headlight work?? wow in some of those darker areas it didn't look like it illuminated the road at all! Maybe adjustment needed? Or maybe my phone just making it look worse than it it I've been having issues with the headlight on and off since I've had the bike. High beam is actually low Beam and low beam is high beam. Bulbs blow every other week without fail and the headlight wasn't adjusted properly in that video (taken the day after the first post in the thread) but was done the very next day for the bikes MOT. One of the bolts that was securing the headlight had gone missing after my colleague tried to change the bulb even though I told him not to bother, I'd just do it in daylight and ride home on high beam/spot lamps.
  9. Thanks for the replies and the advice guys. I've not been able to reply sooner because I've been taking on as much work as possible. I managed to record a ride home, for those that would like to see what I mean about my riding. The camera makes it look like I'm going slower than I actually am but you'll see on the speedo I stick between 20-30mph. https://youtu.be/q-IsnJ5HhO4 I'm not giving it up. I've been around and spoke to a few instructors now and been for a "assessment" ride with one of them, I'm booked in for a lesson with him next Wednesday. Need to get theory done before I can do much more than just confidence building though. Did the assessment ride on a 500 which was a eye opener to how the 125 is holding me back
  10. Looking for some advice.... I did go out for a ride with my instructor in the hopes that he could give me some useful tips and advice but nothing came of it apart from "you definitely have some confidence issues, just ride more, Its all in your head, now payment", he only seemed interested in taking my money. I know that it is all in my head but I was hoping for more than that. He has also said that until I've sorted these confidence issues out, He isn't willing to take me out on lessons anymore. The more I ride, the worse it seems to get. I've been riding on L plates for six years now, Ridden every day in every weather. Always been fine confidence-wise. I've had a few offs but it's only the latest one that has seriously dented my confidence in riding. Im only riding in the dark now due to my working hours (im a door supervisor) Im having issues with speed, I don't mean Im always speeding. I mean Im finding it hard to get up to and stay at the speed limit. on a 30mph ill generally, sit at 25ish mph and pull to the side to let traffic past if there are more than three cars behind me. Going past junctions, if there is a car my speed drops down another 5mph or so and I completely sh!t myself. (my last accident was when I was doing 40 in a 40, a car pulled out from in front of a parked truck and I hit the car) I also have very little confidence in the bends and I've got a huge fear of going over manhole covers. Has anyone got any tips or advice on how to get over these confidence issues? Its really starting to get me down and I almost put my bike up for sale because of it.
  11. they're great little bikes, they just keep going no matter how much abuse you throw at them. Though the furthest I've ever taken mine was Wolverhampton to Matlock Bath and back. Hopefully ill be getting another machine for commuting duties some point this year and I can keep the YBR for the fun days out.
  12. The bike has been doing strict commuting duties without much care given to it, its MOT is due on 2nd Feb and it's giving me a few jobs to get done. Hopefully I'll have time to get them all done and it will pass with flying colours (with my luck it won't and ill be a bus w4nk3r for a few weeks. Front brake has gone soft, I've tried to bleed it up but no improvement. New master cylinder and calliper should solve that issue. The battery has lost its charge completely, luckily the bike still starts after a few kicks on the kickstart but a new battery is required. The headlight is only working on high beam now, This has happened before so I think it will just be the bulb again. Someone has taken out the bolt on the right-hand side of the headlight leaving the headlight loose, I suspect it was one of the bar staff where I work taking it for their own bike, but one will be sourced and headlight aimed correctly again. The swingarm has some surface rust starting to show in a few areas, it should be ok with a quick sand down and some hammerite. The pillion peg holders are also starting to rust so they'll get the same treatment. The chain needs to be adjusted a little and so does the rear brake. I've changed my route to work and no longer need the LED spotlights so they'll be getting removed when I change the battery. Needs a basic service soon, Oil change, spark plug and air filter should do the trick. It had valve clearances done on the last service so should be ok until the next one. After all that's done, I'll put it through an MOT and if it fails, Ill smash the testers skull into a million pieces. I've had some "evil" thoughts about turning it into a cafe racer when I get my new bike in June too but well see
  13. glad you made it through and it didn't dent your biking bug! Youd have to chop both of my legs off to stop me riding even then id just move on to a trike or something
  14. of course they are worth it. Any gear is worth it. I used to be one of those guys who were worried about how I looked... Until I crashed. Wearing jeans, trainers and a hoodie with gloves and a helmet. Road rash on both legs, Road rash on my arse, Road rash both arms, Road rash on my back. Two broken ribs, A punctured lung and a broken ankle. Lost my job and my then girlfriend. Took four months to be able to ride again. Six months before I could work again and I had to change career because of my injuries. Now its all the gear, every time. If its casual looking motorcycle clothing you want, A quick google throws up loads of websites that sell good gear.
  15. Had it since August now and have made a few changes to it. First was the exhaust, the old one had rotted and a standard new one was £140. downpipe and a cheap can from ebay cost £90 I've added some LED spot lights because my commute involves going down some sketchy unlit roads, they seriously light the road up. I did have a truck horn at one point but cant find the pictures of it. anyway some pics.. Riding in the snow, I ride all year round. Taking some new tyres to my car as well as new exhaust fitted. and painted the engine black. as and when i make changes ill post some pics here and there
