  1. Thanks, I'll give it a whirl. Look a like only a couple of screws to get in the unit
  2. Hi all, my 2006 r1 has developed a problem with the left indicator, it's not working. The right one works fine and all 4 indicators work when I use the hazard lights or when setting the alarm. I'm thinking it's probably a problem with the switch itself. Are they easy to replace or fix or could it be another issue entirely? Thanks
  3. Thanks all! To be fair the examiner was really good and gave me some constructive criticism. Ideally I'd like an r6 or r1, it just depends on the insurance. But I've always want a sports bike since I was young so I'd be happy with anything like that
  4. Well, today was the day for my mod 2 test and pleased to say I passed first time! 4 rider faults mostly for road position on turns at junctions, and I thought I missed a 20mph road sign and thought I was speeding, but luckily I wasn't. Examiner did say I passed by the skin of my teeth but I still passed! Can't wait to buy a bike now. A big thanks to Dave at DRS based in ilkeston in Derbyshire, a great instructor and can't recommend him enough
  5. Thanks, got to wait a few weeks until mod 2 due to availability but can't wait!
  6. Just got back from my mod 1 test and I've passed! No rider faults so I'm well happy. I was convinced I'd messed up. I was fine with my nerves until I parked in the green bay, then everything started whizzing through my head. The slalom felt tighter, my figure of 8 seemed wider than I've done in practice and my controlled stop I thought I had finished in 2nd! But I managed to keep going. Can't wait for my mod 2 now!
  7. There are also loads of free theory tests online, I used these and passed! I found the hazard perception videos hard to do on my phone, but they did give me an idea of what to expect
  8. Thanks for the replies, it's certainly reassured me about getting a sports bike. I like the idea of completing extra training courses. It would be good to learn some extra skills but also to meet people in the same boat as me
  9. I've always wanted a sports bike since I was a lad, ideally a yamaha r1/6 But I'm thinking that might be too much bike for a first! Mod 1 is booked, can't wait!
  10. Did the theory and hazard perception test this morning and passed! I'm over the moon and pleased with my scores. Next step mod 1!
  11. Thanks, that is reassuring. Nervous, but strangely looking forward to it!
  12. Completed my CBT training today and loved it. There were only 2 of us and the instructor who was brilliant. Started at 9am. Introduction to the other chap and the instructor bought us a coffee. Did some safety checks of the bikes and controls, sorted out some protective gear and started riding round the car park. Brief break, time to get a burger, talked about road riding and out on the road. He gave us really clear instructions and the 2 hours flew by! I loved it. Back to the car park and got our certificates. Can't wait to start learning on a 600cc now.
  13. Thanks for the link, that looks exactly what I need. Cheers
  14. Thanks all for the advice. If I fail because of it I certainly won't give up, I'll use it as a practice and take what I've learnt into the retest. I'm looking forward to it, just a little nervous. I've got a couple of weeks before then so I'll continue with my research and hopefully all will be good. Thanks all.
  15. I've booked my theory test for the end of the month and after revising I'm quietly confident for that part. What I am nervous about is the hazard perception test. When I passed my car test in '97 I didn't have to do one, but after doing a few online practices I've noticed the window for scoring high points is quite narrow. Does anyone have any hints and tips? Thanks
