1. Hellooooo,

My fan must have vibrated off and fell onto the exhaust manifold (still connected by the electrical wire) and has melted to sin.

Anyway spoke to the bike man... he said there on back order from Yamaha and there ยฃ220+vat!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. Ive looked online and cant seem too see any second hand or patent ones.

Can anyone help me in this situation? Are there motorbike brakers/scrapyards that may do one?

    Thanksssss,

    Ross

  2. I was in my car for this one... but the Nob of the day award went to the Black Ford Fiesta ST travelling at brake neck speeds down the A329 in bracknell proceeding to undertake a tipper truck. He zoomed through the hard shoulder and dust and crap went all over the place!!

Well done that man you acheived absoluty nothing apart from spraying dust everywhere and potentially causing a rather hideous accident :dupe:

  3. The thing to watch is where the wind gets deflected to.......I test rode a Tiger 800 a few years back and the screen deflected the air flow right into my lid, so it was buffeting and rattling worse than having no screen......TBH I've got used to the buffeting from no screen on my Speedy....doesn't really bother me anymore......but, having said that, I don't do the mileage on the bike that I used to.....

    ย

I see what you mean about where the wind is deflecting. Thats a good point! What would rather body or face ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Trouble is because the 66x is a small light biie when im doing high speeds i fill up like a kite and get blown all over the place ๐Ÿ˜‚

  4. I'm far from expert in this - and I've only ever swapped screens on sports type bikes where the effect of a different screen sizes/shapes is probably a more exact science due to having a fairing too and a more prone riding position.

However, I would imagine going from no screen at all to a medium sized one as per your link would have a fairly noticeable increase in comfort at speed.

I think your body size & shape come into the equation too - if you're 6ft5 built like a shed and sit upright you might need a larger screen than if you're 5ft2 skinny and crouch. Kind of obvious I know, but needs to be considered.

    ย

Im 5ft 7/8โ€ so lacking a mittle in the tall department and medium build so may work in my favour. The smoked effect should look good too.

    ย

The previous owner fitted an MRA adjustable screen to mine, so effectively it can be medium sized or large. Works well, and was reminded of how well it works when I rode Magpie84's Hornet the other weekend which doesn't currently have a screen. Not sure if they have anything for you though.

Cheers ill check it out and have a look, atleast i will have a choice if they do one for my bike

  5. Hellooo,

Ive been looking online at screens. You can get small medium and big ugly things, (Yam XTX). Will a medium size one be enough to keep the wind off? Also is it a case of once there on there on or are they eaisly bolt on/off depending on what journey your doing?

At the moment i dont have a screen and i jump on the duel carraige way and i fill up like a kite ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Would something like this do the job?

    Cheers! Ross

Looks don't matter, get where you're going and take them off until you start for home again. On the road, nobody cares what your luggage looks like.

    ย

If i come touring this year to Eifel/Luxumburg were going from point to point staying in bnbโ€™s so would be no point in yaking them off other then when staying overnight.

    Ahhhhhhhh! Thats handy!

No. We stay at one hotel for 6 nights. Sunday to Friday.

If i come touring this year to Eifel/Luxumburg were going from point to point staying in bnbโ€™s so would be no point in yaking them off other then when staying overnight. Ill have to order the sw-motech evo carrier and chuck them on see what they look like. They are big though hahaha

  8. That first link, would that fir on the sw-motech evo carrier? From what i can see in the photo it has a curved back so go round exhausts. But on the xt660x the evo carrier sits on the outside of the exhausts so no need for the curves.

Thats was exactly my thoughts on the E22โ€™s. I have two Givi paniers at hone flat back monokey ones buttt... they are rather large and wont look right on my bike not sure what litre they are

  9. Have you considered soft panniers? like these from SW-Motech https://tinyurl.com/y2a7vsle

    Available from Amazon. https://tinyurl.com/y65ngxs3

    or these... https://tinyurl.com/y2mfqwvh https://tinyurl.com/y4ghtbbp

Not as secure as hard lockables.. but then, there are times when these can be appropriate. And soft panniers are seen as the best alternative to aluminium crates by a lot of ADV bikers, particularly those who don't fall to the ground and begin foaming at the mouth in an ecstasy of paranoia, whenever unsecured luggage is mentioned. Certainly very popular in America.

    ย

Just not too sure if i like the pannier itself, may order the panniers next month in going tonget the sw motech evo carrier. Like youbsaid i can see it in the flesh, if they donthe job happy days if not i can always return them. Thanks for the help!!

Not really a fan of soft luggage. I like to know thats its properly fixed to my bike! Also i have two high exhausts on each side. They get warm but not hot.

    ย

The panniers from SW Motech ARE properly fixed to the bike. they are secured onto the rack, the one you would have to buy for the Givi cases. And also the rack ensures there is a gap.

    seen here:

  10. given some thought to this, if you know anyone who has a sewing machine, you could make a harness out of 50mm webbing, create an open pocket for the cases to sit in, one each side, with the webbing stitched to the pockets to go over the seat, then just need a short strap to tie each case to the bike, simple, strong, easy to install and remove, and secure when on the bike,

    ย

If i was to go to all that trouble tryi g to set up a rig id just go for throwover/soft panniers.

I just prefer hard fixed panniers that way i know there saftly on my bije and dont have to worry

  12. Sounds like a good idea! Yeah i need to see them in the flesh really like you said so i know for certain. I dont want panniers too big as its only a small bike as it is.

Like i said i would like the aluminium ones but there so expensive and im not going to be using them that often 99% of the time its going to be noce summer weather so inthink cheap and cheerful is the way foward.

Is there any other designs a bit less cruiser style you know of? (Bit more rectangler) for roughly the same price!

  13. Hello team! Has anyone had any experience with these panniers i know there cheap BUT.... i cant warrant paying ยฃ500/600 on Ally ones which id ideally like as it would suit the XTX better and im only going to be using few times a year for a bit of touring and odd trip in the uk. Also there little 22litre ones which will cit a few pairs of socks and pants ๐Ÿ˜‚

  14. Hello again guys!

Looking to get couple of panniers on the XTX. Im going to fork out the extra for a sw-Motech as its easyily removable so when im not using them it wont be an isor. Pannier wise i would like a xouple of slim ally cases. Maybe 33l trekkers, a yone have experience in these do they leak? Etc.

Also will only be every now and then they get used so id there any cheaper options pannier wise? Maybe a different brand etc

Top box maybe at a later stage. Just dont want any ulgy looking bracket permantly bolted on the back of my bike

    Thanks!!

  15. I can't even do it !
