  1. Thank you, water off a duck’s back
  2. Very good
  3. Thanks Geoff!
  4. I'm not surprised - it's faultless, really.
  5. Well, this is very embarrassing. I took the Street Triple out for a two hour test today whilst my twin was having it's 500 mile tart-up, and absolutely fell in love with it. So much power on tap, and so light and manageable. When I got back to the dealership, I was offered a potential "upgrade" that saw all my money back on the Twin, including what I spent on accessories (remember I got a hefty discount due to the new model), so i've basically just traded it in against a Street Triple R in jet black. My thinking was that if I waited a few months I'd get hammered on the trade-in price, and with the new model widely available I'd find it near impossible to sell privately. This does mean that I have no discount on the price of the Triple, but all in all it's a not a bad result. The Triple is as fast as I could ever want, much lighter (30+kg) than the Twin and is even narrower, so a joy to filter on and manoeuvre in and out of traffic. On the motorway it's an absolute joy. I think it really was the best decision I could have made.
  6. Well, this may be a bit off topic, but I recently bought 4 sets of M&S thermals. I have to say, the difference in terms of warmth is incredible.
  7. Many a true word...
  8. You have a brilliant attitude, Elizabeth - being a bit miffed for a while is only natural. To emphasise a point made earlier, whilst you don't want to be hesitant on roundabouts the examiner will expect you to wait until any oncoming vehicles have committed to their manoeuvre before you pull out. It can be a fine balance sometimes, but I'm sure that this experience will serve you well. As an aside, I didn't even like riding my 125 during the period between my Mod 1 and Mod 2 (about three weeks). I know just how you feel.
  9. What a shame, Elizabeth - it does seem that roundabouts are the biggest challenge when it comes to Mod 2. Good luck next time.
  10. Because he's a top bloke who wants to make sure he's not giving bikers a bad name by being a knob. Bizarre train of thought. No it’s not.
  11. Well, I've just clocked up 500 miles, so the Street Twin goes in for its oil and filter change on Monday. That didn't take very long! I've also got a couple of things waiting for me (hopefully), by way of minor mods. Firstly, I'm swapping out the two gloss finish side panels for the matt black versions, which match the engine casings (it's been driving me nuts, and I'm now paying more for the side panels than the cost of the paint upgrade would have been initially ). This is how it'll look: And I'm fitting the black headlamp bezel and grille from the Scrambler. I'll post some photos when it's done
  12. Thanks for the heads up - I shall pop over and have a good read. (No doubt I'm going to be told that my super stealth look is a non-starter )
  13. I think the string and elastic band solution would get my OCD twitching just a little too much, genius though it is I think I'm going to go with the Scottoiler, rather than the Crampbuster brand itself. I like the fact that it's narrower, and I know the quality will be good. I just need to check the grip diameter before ordering now.
  14. Hi SCM, I'm assuming that the 6hrs was the ride back from the mudguard install. Sorry to hijack thread, but how did it go? Are you pleased with them? Start new topic, if it's worth talking about. Sorry for hijack @learningtofly Cheers S23 No, as you were
  15. It's likely that I will - I'm just a bit concerned that it might damage my heated grips, which weren't cheap
  16. I'm thinking of getting one of these, as my right hand tends to get tingly on long journeys: Two questions... do they work, and is it best to use the heel of your hand (on the outer side of the grip) or your thumb (on the inner)?
  17. Layering is definitely the answer. Cyclists understand this stuff - get yourself a couple of base layers to add to the mix mentioned above.
  18. Oooh, great job
  19. Ha - luckily cheaper, or I'd have been well pissed off!
  20. The British Standard for number plates The British Standard sets out the characteristics of the number plate. This includes visibility, strength and reflectivity. To meet the British Standard, each number plate must be permanently and legibly marked with the following information: •the British Standard number (currently BS AU 145d) • the name, trademark or other way of identifying the manufacturer or supplier •the name and postcode of the supplying outlet. taken from following doc vehilce-registration-numbers-and_number-plates-inf104.pdf Errr... thanks
  21. it is illegal where is the makers name and bs stamp ?
  22. Thank you
  23. Well I fitted a Dart Marlin windshield today, and reckon it looks pretty good... More importantly, I'm doing some stuff to make the bike my own in terms of looks. Firstly, I've ordered the side panels from the matt black version, as they match all the engine casings (I've never thought the gloss side panels looked right); I've also ordered the black headlamp bezel and cage/grille from the Street Scrambler, and will fit all of that as soon as I have my hands on it. I've decided that I'm going to have my own paint job on the tank, too. I'm thinking a classic black/off white Bonnie style, and will talk to 8Ball Custom and one or two others about it.
