  1. now if only Mandy could remind me of her fella's name too....................... *waits*
  2. Mr Beefy Sir, of course, I do so apologise, I must have got too much rain in me noggin, and it's taking a little while to dry it out, lol
  3. Watch THIS space??? Surely you'd start a new thread wouldn't you?
  4. psssttttt, Mandy (and her fella, sorry, still can't think of his name ) and myself were talking to Chrissb6 about a Whitby rideout, but shhhh though, if mrs snoopy hears about this before i've had chance to mention it, i'll be in even more trouble
  5. what a brilliant day great to get so many of us together for once, just a shame absolutely no one had any clue as to where we were going In the end, it was more like wacky races with everyone darting off down different routes Anyway, we all re-grouped at the Cat & Fiddle, where the Northeners decided that the big grey clouds were just too scarey to carry on Anyway, myself, Mandy, Mandy's fella (who's name I can never bloody remember) , their friends Daz & his mrs, Stuart, umm, and another chap on the 07 Fazer, god I must be shattered, can't bleedin remember anyones name now sorry fella Anyway, left the 'Cat' and ventured off into the rain. Having read much about the infamous Cat & Fiddle road catching out many a biker, I was wary about my first attempt at it being in the wet, but it was all ok, just took it steady. At the end of the Cat road, we turned right, and I now realise that when we turned right at the first island off the dual carriageway, it should have actually been the 2nd island, D'oh! Ah well, all roads lead to somewhere eh? Cut a long story short, Mandy's fella saved the day and led us down some brilliant roads, including one which dropped right down into a valley, massive steep hills either side, was incredible, just wish I had me camera with me Oh well, will have to go seek out that road again when summer get's here Made it back to Matlock, and bumped into Stuart again, and just after he left, Chrissb6 pulled up. Anyway, the day flew by and I got into trouble coz I said I'd be back home about 4:30, not 6:00 Sorry Mrs Snoopy if you're reading this Anyway, hope everyone got back safe and sound! When's the next one? 8)
  6. ummm, hiya... I'm back from me hols now... This meet still going ahead I take it? Excellant! Now then, remind me.... anyone from the Midlands still meeting at Donington services just off M1 Junction 24? 10:00am wasn't it, by the petrol station bit? Anyone???? What time we all aiming to meet in Matlockshire for?
  7. So checking rings and reeds are on the list for tonight, along with checking the bendix drive gear..... i WILL solve this problem, i WILL solve this problem, i WILL solve this problem,
  8. Well Snoopster, I wondermentised because the thing with Mitos and Prillies is that if you religiously let them warm up before you ride them, and use tip-top top notch oil, they can be very reliable ... But if some adolecent infested scroat weasel has ragged the arse off a cold engine, they can be a right royal pain in the arse .... mmm ... praps thats not what you wanna here .... mmmmm ... swiflty moving on .... Umm ... I know .... Oooh .. what a loovelly looking bike, damn pretty them Prillies oh aye, they pretty alright, lol haha
  9. Edster mate, just over 2 weeks, why? you know summat I don't? ROFL
  10. yep, fuel is new stuff. The bike has been running, but now just seems to not want to play, must be sulkin coz Rossi only managed a 4th at Donny last weekend ummm, timing...? thats starting to sound technical. STU...... Have just been advised on an RS125 forum to check the 'bendix' drive gear behind the starter motor ????????? wtf?, ahh well, looks like it's back to the haynes manual
  11. Any 2-Stroke guru's out there? Got an Aprilia RS 125 which has been running but now refuses to start at all Got it out last night to go for a little ride round, tried to start it, starter motor tries but it won't fire up. Cut a long story short: - Had the carb off thinking it would be all gunked up - it isn't, looks really clean. - Changed the fuel filter in the carb - old one was really dirty. - Put a new spark plug in, correctly gapped. - Fitted a brand new battery, thinking maybe it wasn't holding enough charge to start the bike under load. Anyway, despite all that, still won't start. So, I know the batt and plug are brand new and I know fuel is getting to the carb from the tank. As I said, the starter motor tries, but it just won't catch. I have took the plug out of the cylinder and held it to the frame, and there is definately a spark there, so now I'm thinking it can't be the HT lead / plug cap On top of that, I think I can smell fuel from the exhaust whilst trying to start it, but seeing as the garage smells like a Glade Plug-In a lá BP Ultimate, I can't be certain. Only thing I am sure of, is that when you place your hand near the exhaust, there is definately pressure blowing out when the starter button is pressed. One more thing... whilst trying to start it, I flicked the kill switch to the off position to see if maybe the switch was faulty. In the off position, the starter motor still operated when the starter button was pressed Confused From memory, on every bike I've owned, the kill switch has prevented the engine from even trying to start! Is this just common to Aprilia's or is mine knackered? Any ideas? Any ideas at all? Coz I'm rapidly running out of them, and even armed with a Haynes manual, it's knocking my confidence in trying to learn how to maintain bikes myself instead of paying extortionate dealership charges Cheers all
  12. Anyway, whichever way, here's a map of Chris's Awesome looking route...... Over 3 hours and 111 odd miles of some of Derbyshires finest blacktop, taking in Snake Pass and the Cat & Fiddle 8)
  13. ello I am almost certainly gonna be on this, so where are midlands people thinking of meeting? A couple of suggestions.... 1. M1 J24, Donington Services - then route A50, A38, A6 2. M1 J25, - A52, A61, A38, A6 3. M1 J26, BP Petrol Station on A610 - then route A610, A6 Just depends where others outside the area are traveling from and where they can get to easily. Am I right in thinking that any of us from Nottingham can get to any of them junctions on the M1 pretty easily Unless anyone has any better ideas of course, I'm just thinking out loud
  14. Borile Vicki n kids Drew Nell Nigelf n Maggie Scol1 Snoopy plus possibly mrs and mate
  15. fish n chips and ice cream? hmmm, that sounds almost tasty! hehehe
  16. Mainly for East Mids peeps...... Borile, which way are you travelling up? If your coming up M1, or near the M1, Donington services just off J24 would be a handy place to meet up. Good for anyone off M1 and easy access from Nottingham via A453. Failing that, there is Junction 25 or Junction 26, again, both easy to get to from notts, and both with an obvious, and good, route to Matlock. I'm fairly certain I can make this, but am away the week before so won't be able to catch up on this thread till Friday night / Saturday 7th If there's a definate meeting point / time arranged by then, just make sure its easy for me to spot it on the thread
  17. what to use? engine oil, just wiped on with a clean rag, then finish off with a wax spray too, don't know why, however, I expect I'll shortly get told lots of reasons why I shouldn't use both how often? ummm, depends how much you use it, I'll normally do it a couple of days ahead if I know I'm going out for a long run, but if it's just a quick blast or an unplanned trip, well, then it don't get done!
  18. I meant with the Ice Creams 8)
  19. erm, it was a long day, i was tired, it isn't me, erm, the sun was in my eyes, erm, erm, erm, ok ok, i'm just bloody ugly then, lol
