  1. Is there a particular bike night at this caffeine machinery place? The website is very slick but doesn't have a "What's on" page!

As far as I am aware, every night is bike and car night. If you go in a car you have to pre-book a parking space at the weekend now. Wednesday nights are a good shout for bikes though as it’s Stratford bike night down the waterfront on wednesdays too so the bikers go between the two

  2. @Snod Blatter & @b@brad93

It's quite a small shop although they are extending into the unit next door,he sells good quality gear aimed at the cafe hipster scene ,don't expect to buy a set of one piece leathers.

You can guarantee a warm welcome from the owner Jack and there is a small cafe across the yard doing drinks and snacks.

If you are local its worth visiting to support an independent business and as you suggest a good meeting place for a ride out one day.

Will have to take a look in summer. Want to go try out Caffeine & Machine too so could do a little idle Torque to caffeine & machine ride out

That's sounds like an excellent plan.

Not heard of caffeine machine before, website looks very interesting :thumb:

Will revive this thread now. I went to Caffeine & Machine tonight on the bike. Really nice little place! Stratford waterfront bike night is on wednesdays too which is why there was probably so many bikes for a weeknight, overall a nice place. Easy to find too, straight down Fosse way to ettington, then over a roadabout and it’s on the left up the road. Didn’t have any food but the burgers looked half decent :thumb:

  3. Forgot to post my MOD2 experiences in here last week so here goes.

Had my MOD2 test on Wednesday last week. Booked in for 2:11. However I had a 7:30am start as I had a day of training before hand to make sure I was up to scratch.

I was a lot more nervous than I was for MOD1, maybe because it was 8 days since my MOD1 year and I hadn’t been on the bike since then. But anyway got there in the morning for training and we rode over to the test centre to begin taking a few test routes and practicing the angled start etc.. my instructor was confident that both myself and the other guy I was with would pass, so we did a few more test routes, then went for a blast in the countryside for an hour before getting back to the test centre. Quick toastie and can of coke to get some sugar in me before my test, then 15 minutes before my test the heavens opened. Oh crap I’ve never rode in the wet before, so nerves kicked in again. My name was called, gave him my paperwork, answered a couple of questions about bike main fence and by that time the rain had stopped and roads were dry again!

Anyway, half an hour or so out riding, return back to the test centre to be told ‘steady ride’ which I remember form my MOD1 test meant it was a clean sheet, 0 faults!

    MOD2 passed!

Instructor took his walkie talkie back and told me to head on back to the training centre the other side of the city, so had my first little solo ride! 4 days later I’ve got a deposit on a bike which is going to be delivered sometime around 13th May after my holiday, so hopefully will see some of you out on the roads :D

  4. Well my cheapest is £765 fully comp. that’s for 3000 miles, with a Datatool alarm and ground anchor. Called a few others and they either quoted almost £2000 or refused to quote. Looks like I’m sucking that up and paying it

  5. I feel like I am 17 again trying to insure my first bike.

    Pushing £800 for a ER6N or XJ6N, or paying monthly it’s pushing £1000

With insurance and bike finance that’s an additional £200+ a month I’m going to be paying out. Think I best go count my magic beans.

  6. Pretty good racing last weekend to be fair. Wasn’t expecting too much on that silverstone circuit but was definitely an action packed couple of races, good old elbow to elbow racing!

Very lucky to walk away unscathed from that crash too judging by how how he threw himself!
