  1. I'll pop down, depending on if I'm working late or not!
  2. In the Bretton Centre, next to LLoyds Bank...
  3. funny you should say that..... the tiny bit of metal that covers the igniton, that pulls back when you put the key in is bent, and the damn thing stays open !
  4. Hey Guys, Basically the guy who used to own my bike didn't look after it too well, and as a result there are a few things I wanted to sort out, but don't know about, so thought I'd whack it up here. Firstly, The guy had a load of keys on his key fob, and as a result, both the area around the igniton and fuel cap are scratched from other keys- is there any way of making the aluminium ( i think it is) shiny again, and to remove the scratches around the areas? - same with the minor scratching above the S logo on the tank - do I need to get a paint kit on top of a 'scratch filler'? Lastly, anyone know what the black roller is? it's just above the sidestand and next to the chain, didn't want to get rid of the crap round it till I knew what it did/if I need to lube it up or not ? - Cheers guys!
  5. Thanks for the informative post! - I have to be honest, as I went all out on bike/helmet/gloves I didn't spend as much as I wanted on protective clothing, but it's coming with the next paycheque! - A question in terms of the boots. I've got very wide feet, but they are only a size 9ish in length, but I usually go for a size up and wide footed shoes ( not monstrously wide, but wider than normal, think hobbit feet? ) Should I therefore do the same as I've done with walking and army boots and just have some space in the toe area, with a moderatley good fit round the arch of the foot, or try and find some wide- footed boots?
  6. Some places, like where I did my course, will provide you with all important kit for free! - you might find that you hate biking after doing the DAS (impossible!) and that you've spent all that money on kanagaroo leathers and a £1890 helmet! just a thought!

Bloody BOLT! - tried to get it out , bolt head gave up and I managed to tear a bit of skin off my hand... The bast*rd is horribly lodged in! - I put enough oil into the top to make sure the engine keeps running ok, but it's annoying the hell out of me

think I've solved the problem, Didn't realise that the bolt was one of those types with like a built in washer, and so I think there is a deposit of c*rp built up around it, blitzed it with WD and a bit of chain cleaner, hopefully it'll get rid of all the stuff stuck to it, then come out nice and easy!
  10. I tried this to get to work avoiding motorways (L Plates) the other day, but the problem to start off with was it slipping all over the tank bag, which I solved by wedging it in ( occassionally picked up the tank bag cover as a 'touch' on the touchscreen, but just click done) - but the main problem was the satnav itself, basically the bloody tom tom wouldn't pick up any signal from the tankbag, and kept drifting in and out of consciousness, actually annoying me more than following the road signs! but give it a go! might work better in your area!

cheers, for taking the plate off, will a normal spanner be enough to undo the bolts, or will I need to use a socket set? Sorry for the stupid questions, I'm not that practical at all!
  12. I'll pop down, I live round the corner! - Ride along the front most of the time in the evenings! See you on the 5th!

It's a Suzuki RV125 K5 (sometimes known as a Van Van) - I could take the plate off, but I don't have a huge Socket Wrench (that's not an innuendo) and I'm worries that I'll shred the heads of the plate bolts like the previous owner did!

Hey Guys, I've had my Suzuki for a week and a bit now, been cleaning her up etc (previous owner didn't love her much) - but I've only just noticed this ( I know I should have looked before buying) but the Bolt head is shot. I've got a replacement coming in the post, but my socket set won't grip the bolt head! - I'm not particularly practical at stuff like this, and don't want to wreck the bike, so an idiot's explanation would be appreciated!
  15. I've read some pretty shocking experiences of CBT, so I shopped around a bit for mine, and ended up paying £75, weary of the fact this was pretty cheap for the CBT and that it might be a dodgy start to biking, but set off nice and early to the Goodwood Circuit. When I got there, I could see two bikes set up in one of the paddock stands. I'd never even sat on a bike before and wanted to jump straight on one of them and start riding, but to my instructor's credit, we didn't even go near the bikes at first, explaining the need for proper safety equipment and all of the other necessities of biking. We carried on steadily through the modules, and despite me being the only one who hadn't ridden before, the pace was decent enough for the old-timers , and for me to pick up completely new skills. We managed to get out on the road (luckily I'm a car driver so didn't have to deal with the new hassles of the highway code) for the full time needed, and the instructor kept in regular contact, even if it was just telling jokes. I know what you're thinking, annoying right? , but I found that it eased the mood, as well as letting me know he was there, just in case! I passed the course with no worries, and jumped straight on my bike the next day, confident that I had the basic skills to get me on track. For those of you that are interested, I did my course with 'Just Bikes' - based at the Goodwood Circuit, thoroughly recommended!
