  1. If you do a google shopping search on them CR1's you can get them for £80. XPD also do some for around £115 which I'm considering. XPD are Spidi's.
  2. I'm up for this although maybe only for the one night.
  3. i spent £50 on my helmet but thats because all i could afford, id love to buy a carbon fibre one but i dont have enough for one yet but for gloves, yeah they are made with expensive materials, but for the 20 seconds maximum your going to be sliding along the road, a cheaper pair will do the same job wont they? Andy 20 seconds How fast are you planning on going haha. I think the point is that you never know. So if you can afford to spend a bit more for kit made with proven stronger materials then IMO it's worth it.
  4. Yeah of course. What I mean is if the best gloves you can buy are really expensive but I can afford it, then I would get them.
  5. If I had the cash sure. Why not have the best protection you can afford.
  6. Stand further back?
  7. Yeah sorry about that. Just bad timing with my mate up from Peterborough for the first time in months. Can never say no to the last pint or three. Would of still been over the limit I think even if I did feel good enough to come. Will definitely get out on the next run. My weekend off this week so will be out and about if the weather is reasonable.
  8. You need to do the CBT on a 125 anyways. Why not do that and see how you get on. You might breeze it and want to go straight in for the DAS or you might prefer to get some more 125 experience first. Also, not sure if all training schools do it but at the one I went to, if you went for the DAS but couldn't manage a bigger bike they kept you on a 125 and you did the restricted test instead.
  9. May be able to get out earlier now, say half 1. But won't know until tomorrow evening.
  10. Yeah, when I ordered they expected them to be back in stock this week. Now it's been pushed back to the middle of May That applys to all UK stockists too so can't re-order from somewhere else. There's no good alternatives either so will just have to wait. I have an old 3g IPhone that I am going to jail break when I get round to it.
  11. Nice one mate. Have you put many miles in since? I've had a grin on my face all day. After the test I got a coffee and went outside. My instructor was waiting for me with another lad on training. He said finish your coffee and then head back to the training centre and then they left. So I got to ride back on my own. Felt awesome even though the bike still had L plates on. Would of took the long route back but wanted to get back and transfer my insurance and get out on my own bike. Took ages to sort in the end so only put 20 miles on. Best 20 miles ever though lol. Gutted I've got to work this weekend but will go on the bike if the weather isn't too bad.
  12. Had her since January but as I passed my Mod 2 today this is now my official ride
  13. Just passed my mod 2 Got a 90 minute drive home, swap the insurance to the shiver and get tax. Should be on the road by half 3 ish
  14. Only used the software once so far, for a trial as my car has sat nav built in. It seems pretty good, has a bike mode. There's probably usage vids on youtube to have a look before you buy. I couldn't personally recommend it either way as I haven't used it enough yet. I have the kriega tank bag which doesn't have a window. Also I think it's better mounted on the handlebars, don't have to look down as far, although probably not much difference. I have the 3GS IPhone. Had the 2 and 3g's too. Haven't noticed the s being that much faster in normal use tbh, but it might be more noticeable with resource hungry apps like sat nav. What headset do you use cobbz? or is it build in to your lid.
  15. Just ordered all the bits to use my IPhone for on bike sat nav. Holder : Nice and small, waterproof, and can still use the touch screen too. http://www.discountcyclesdirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=9944 Power : Battery to accessory socket then accessory to USB. I'm sure you can get a direct battery to USB but I couldn't find one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12v-Motorcycle-Waterproof-Accessory-socket-Loom-Plug_W0QQitemZ300290255860QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item45eab1abf4#ht_2715wt_939 http://maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=274029 Bluetooth headset: Can use your own headphones with this http://www.buybits.com/product/sku_5164.aspx And for using the touch screen with your gloves on : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Conductive-Thread-for-diy-north-face-etip-Gloves-e-tip_W0QQitemZ270536024619QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccessories_MobilePhoneBatteries?hash=item3efd34222b#ht_1324wt_1165 For the software itself I have Co Pilot UK edition. Pretty good app, at £25 it's half the price of the Tom Tom. Euro edition is £50 I think. Should have all the bits in the next week or so. Will post up how I get on.
  16. I have the XR100 and can vouch for its quality. Where abouts are you. You still see plenty advertised for sale so there should be somewhere you can try one. Are you anywhere near Blackburn, I was in the Rocket Centre on Thursday and they had some in.
  17. Passed my mod 1 today with a clean slate. WOOT. Was really nervous at first but once I'd got the slalom and figure of eight out of the way I settled down. Only hit 47 on the swerve the first time as I cut the corner a bit and then throttled off slightly. Got back on it but realised I was a bit slow approaching the speed trap. Instead of nailing it and maybe mucking up I just decided to make sure I got through without clipping a cone and then make sure I got it at the second attempt. Hit 55 for second swerve and 55 on the first emergency stop. So there I was sat on the curb outside the test centre with a big smile on my face waiting for my instructor to turn up to take me back to the training centre. When he turns up I ask what time my mod 2 is (I hadn't asked earlier as I didn't want to jinx it). "A week Friday" he says. Aaaaarrrrrhhh. "We don't book the mod 2 until you pass 1 as if you fail you lose the money". "I'm aware of that but I explicitly asked for both tests to be booked for today". Ah well, nothing I could do about it but I was (still am) seriously pissed off about it. What an anti climax after passing mod 1 and then just getting in the car to drive home without my license. And now I get a couple of hours practise next week before the test, rather than the 3 and a half full days I've just had. This weeks going to really drag. To top it off I'm not due back in work until Tuesday so would of had loads of time to go riding. If I pass next Friday I won't be able to get out on the bike at all until the following Tuesday. P.S. Felt sorry for the guy who went before me. He hit the cone on the swerve and failed. I was talking to him yesterday and he has a brand new Z750 waiting to be picked up from the dealers.
  18. Your right about the names. Steve rides a gsx 1400 now. Really nice bike, bloody huge. I've been really happy with the instructors, Steve and chris especially. I haven't had Alan yet although others have said he's good. I would recommend the training school to others.
  19. Cost me 500 for 4 days. That includes b & b accomodation, although it's only very slightly cheaper without. Didn't post yesterday as I was knackered and fell asleep really early. Didn expect it to be so tiring lol. Was a bit fed up yesterday morning as they were very busy and an instructor down. All I did was go up and down to the test centre escorti g other people to there mod 1s. Was better after lunch. Finally got on the 500 and found it was easier to ride than the flimsy ybrs. Had a great day today. everything really coming together. Mod 1 at half 10 tomorrow and assuming I pass, mod 2 some time in the afternoon. I'm really confident that I can pass, as long as the nerves don't get to me the way they did on my driving test.
  20. Well that's day one over with. Stayed on the ybr all day. They were awfull, you could tell they had had a hard life lol. Had plenty of practise at the mod 1 excercises, including the swerve which I hadn't done before. Wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Feel quite confident with these. Did plenty of on road riding too. Need a lot of work on my mirrors and lifesavers, still getting muddled up with what's required and when. But I'm sure I'll get it nailed down before the test. Will be glad to get on the 500s tomorrow to start to get to grips with them. Will also get to go on the actual mod 1 circuit for a practise, speed traps and everything. The instructor we had today was also spot on. Very patient and gave lots of good info and tips. Will have someone different tomorrow as he is off, so hopefully he will be as good all in all a good day. Feeling confident for the rest of the week and looking forward to the tests. Ok, that may be a lie. Lol
  21. Yeah I noticed frankie. It's one of the reasons I joined the forum. I work with 2fast2soon so already know him. I'm in millom btw
  22. Nightmare, sorry to hear that. I'm glad I'm doing it this way. In and out, complete focus. And then hopefully never have to go back again lol.
