I think MOD 1 is easier as they will not fail you if you do what you are supposed to do, nothing unexpected can really happen. However during MOD 2 you can get a bit unlucky and fail it just because of someone else's fault.

I've done my license with Elitemotorcycletraining, now called Premier Rider Training based in Wimbledon (they have another branch in Wembley).

They are very expensive and the service they provided was very unprofessional. I only went with them because my friend told me how excelent service she received.

I would avoid them at all cost.

Have tried the washing up liquid and some rubber thing but it was all rubbish, then I bought pinlock insert and this is just awesome, you can blow as much as you like no matter the weather and you get no fog what so ever. It's expensive but worth every penny. Even today during this cold weather with rain+snow my visor stayed fog free.

I can only feel sorry for you mate. I hope you have proper gear and not jeans and some scrappy jacket only.

With proper gear and fleece and good gloves it's not too bad actually riding in cold weather, pinlock + heated grips help a lot too.

Good luck and report back to us how it went. I imagine also that if it's going to be to dangerous for you to ride your bike then your training will be moved to another day.

I think that you should retake the test as you already have the bike, if you are happy with your little bike then do the restricted license A2 on your own bike, it'll only cost you the test fees which is £15 + £75, definitely cheaper than CBT every year. You have years of experience therefore passing shouldn't be a problem.

that's a bummer. Can't you find a training school that block book tests? Mine will book it all in for me, I just turn up and go.....might be less stress for you mate.

I though that all schools book the tests for you.

Shame you can't get some time off from work soon as waiting till next year is not the best option as probably you will require some extra training and not only the retake fees which are probably about £100 with your school.

Anyway good luck next time you will be ready to take mod 1 again.

You live just down the road from one of the best bike meet up areas in the UK - Box Hill. You should check it out during weekend, as long as it doesn't rain you will find there many bikers.

I think that would be OK if you were doing your MOD2 in a place that you already know. However I don't think it will work well in places you are in for the first time and this is the case for many of us doing MOD2 as there are only very few test centres around.

I personally had to ride my bike 35 miles to the Burgess Hill to take my MOD2 and I had never been there before. And seeing a map and then getting to selected location would be impossible for me.

If they are doing this for motorbike test then surely this will be introduced for car license too.

Another unnecessary step that will make obtaining car/motorbike license even harder.

I did it on ybr 125 and on 2nd gear but you have to go maximum speed, your bike gotta sound like it was going to explode LOL.

I got speed of 49 my first attempt and then second 53

If you have the £££ then sell your bike and get a restricted one, restricted bikes are so much better than 125cc.

I think the problem is that the market is saturated with people wanting to get their CBT/DAS/etc done and as this is UK most companies care only about easy money and they don't want to risk accidents or train people when they can get someone else in their place who will ride the bike safely.

Just call any motorbike school, almost the whole duration of summer they are fully booked and you have to wait few weeks before you can get your CBT or any training done, it's the same when booking MOD1 and MOD2, 1-2 months waiting time is nothing unusual.

Get your licence done where you live and then as it seem you have the money get some professional track days or something. If you think that you can get proper training in UK then you are mistaken. It's true that you must ride up to certain standard to pass MOD1 and MOD2 but this doesn't mean that you will be safe on the roads. Only riding your bike for 1000s miles will give you the experience, nothing that a normal school can teach you.

Some schools are also bad, for example the school I trained with was really bad, I felt robbed at the end.

If you drive a car then you have enough experience to be on the roads, just buy proper gear and take it slowly, most accidents happen when people get sport bikes and ride them too fast.

I took the bike to local shop, place where the bike was serviced 12 months ago, they said I didn't need any service etc as the bike has only done 1k miles since the last service. I am going to give my bike there for checks etc.

Also check the pictures. The oil is coming from here.

I mentioned the small leak and they cleaned the space around and when I got back to work I saw oil coming from this little place.

EDIT: washer replaced and the leak is gone now.

This might have to be due to cooler weather as other mentioned, I saw a video on youtube exactly with the same problem but different bike, it would just stall once adding too much throttle after starting a cold bike.

I have discovered another problem, there seems to be some small oil leak , at first I discovered some small drops of oil on my right boot and then after inspecting the engine today I discovered some small amount of oil, it seems it gets out from the draining bolt but I am not sure exactly, oil is only around there.

I will take the bike to local shop and see what they say.

I would just start the engine and then ride the bike after 10-20 seconds. I will start it from now on and let it idle for 1-2 minutes without revving or anything. Will let you know how it goes.

EDIT: Can I also ask how to use the engine choke? Do I have to use it all the time or only during cold days? Do I just pull it out and then start the engine or start the engine first and then pull it out? Never had it on my 125 and it would always just start and ride without any issues.

Guys, I have this little problem since yesterday and I’ve only had the bike for 1 week now. The bike 2006 Honda CBF600, 8500 mileage, last service 1 year ago. Bike started just fine until yesterday after work, yesterday was my first time to ride in rain in the morning.

Bike starts fine from cold then dies when revving throttle, yesterday I tried to start it again few times and then it somehow started, this morning I had exactly the same problem. I am starting to freak out now.

To be honest I know nothing about bikes just how to ride them.

Hi guys,

I bought a 2006 Honda CBF600 last week, the bike had service done 11 or 12 months ago. There were quite few parts changed as the receipt shows nearly £500, since then the bike has only done 1000 miles (and I've done about 100 now).

Bike has only got 8500miles on the clock, and it was serviced 3 times now I think (need to check the booklet).

What do I do now, change oil only, ride it for few months then change oil+ something, or do some full service in few months.

I've spend all my money on this bike now so expensive service is out of question.

Also how often should I change engine oil or do some service on my bike.

I had only reached 49km/h on my first swerve attempt however on my second I got 53 and I passed. Just give it some more throttle and you will pass for sure.
