  1. cadwell is alot more in summer, i did a darley day not long back and loved it. only 2 groups 10 mins on 10 mins off was screwed by dinner time with all the track time you get.

one think i liked was you can just turn up on the day and pay your money, so if its pissing it down you can go back to sleep and not loose any money.

i found it scary as hell, that first chicane is madness and the second on is flat out which is mental. i would do it over mallory any day of the week, you get more track time and the 10 mins i was on track was plenty. there is nowhere to rest your always on it.

only stupid thing, i had to tape up my number on the bike and you cant run slicks. and 98db is quiet

yeah i probably had a false sense of what track time you get cuz there was 3 groups the day i went and i only did it from 1:30-5pm and missed a session or 2 because of having to come in after my brakes failed on me.. had i gone and done the whole day and had brakes that worked all day i probably would of felt like i had enough time on track..

  2. Good vid mate. How do you rate DM? Bumpy, fast , bendy enough??? How much?

sorry for the slow reply.. i don't get post notices so only just remembered i had posted this..

the surface is nice and flat its abit tatty on the straights but on the bends it must have been resurfaced because it is smooth and faultless.. it only has one left hand bend and its not much of a left hander so the right side of the tyre takes alot of bashing.. only complaint i have about darley is the fact they only run 12min sessions and its just not enough time to get into it.. its 100quid for the whole day or 60quid for just a morning session or afternoon session.. i won't be doing it again though because for 20-30quid more i could do cadwell or mallory and get full sessions and much better tracks..

i am srad600chris btw just use this account now though

  3. id love to do a track day , however i need a job haha , wouldnt go around a track on the fazer tho , so would have to buy a cheap track bike :D

doesnt falling off effect ur leg phil? im sure if I fell off id sit up and notice my hip coming out of my stomach or something

as other people have said you don't have to ride out of your comfort zone just because your on a racetrack. Just ride as quick as you would on the road if you are that worried about coming off.

  4. jammy git, i would love to do oulton after i saw how epic it was when i went to the bsb round 2 a couple of weeks ago.. its always 159quid though so alot more than cadwell.. i have tried to do darley moor the last 2 months in a row but failed both times.. first time i went the noise testing guy/gal had gone home because i got there at 2pm to do afternoon session and when i went last friday they noise tested my bike at 105db and they have a 98db limit :bang: i was gutted to say the least, will be trying again on the 3rd of june though

  5. i did my first at cadwell park in late march early april this year and i had only done about 1800 road miles, as phil said its nothing like riding on the road. and i went out with the attitude of its not a race and to build my speed slowly and sure enough with lap after lap i got my gears correct for each corner for what i felt comfortable and just kept getting on the brakes slightly later and getting on the throttle slightly earlier and leaning the bike abit more everytime.. i will warn anyone thinking of doing a track day that its very addictive and you will just want to do it all the time. which is a good thing and a bad thing

  6. looks the perfect bike for doing it, well any large cc sports bike hayabusa, zzr, etc.. one day i will go to the ring got to be done..

cant see why, id much rather do it on an r1 or something

infact id like to do it on the sv really, but good fun!

well whatever floats ya boat really.. with a sports tourer you can get to germany in relative comfort and go round the ring fast but still in comfort whereas that wouldnt be the case with a gixer thou or an r1.. you would still be going fast but with sore everything..

  7. On my cbt i was turning right out of a T juction and there was a few youths stood next to the junction which for whatever reason put pressure on me to not mess up. so i pull out no traffic anywhere but as i pull out i nearly ran a bloke over and his little daughter which were stood on the left about to walk accross the road.. it was down to me not having confidence in how much the bike would turn.. my instructor pulled me over up the road and asked me if i knew what i had just done. only close call i have had that was my fault really, cant think of anything else..

  8. Well....where do I start!

Had my CBT today. There were 4 of us. They had all ridden before except for me! 2 of us went with one intructor (who seemed very strict) and then the other 2 of us went with a different guy.

We all had a CBF 125 to ride on which were nice bikes. Got on mine and I could only put my tiptoes on the floor. I phoned these guys when I booked and said that I was only 5'1 and they said that they had a small bike that I could ride. Turns out they didnt!

Anyway, spoke about the bike a bit. The instructor very briefly went through all the parts on the bike.We then started off by slowly moving the bike and then progressed to going faster and moving up to 2nd gear. Everytime I stopped the bike though, I lost balance and even managed to fall off 3 times.

Did a couple of left and right turns, did out U-turn, did a figure of 8 and then a couple of emergency stops.

All in all, I dont think we really spent much time practicing. There wasnt much space where I was either and the car park surface was REALLY uneven.

We then had a brief chat about the highway code, what signs mean what etc then we got out on the road.

My instructor thought it'd be a good idea for me to go on one of the 50cc scooters because of the height problem on the bike. I could still barely touch the floor when I was on the scooter.

Anyway, the first 10 mins on the road went ok and then the reason I failed...

Went to turn left onto another road and no idea what happened but I just totally lost it and went smack bang into the side of a car (it was a learner as well). I really couldnt work out the steering on the scooter, after all, I had spent ALL day practising on the bike.

Is it just me or was putting me onto a scooter that i'd never ridden before a bad idea?

Totally gutted and feels like I've just wasted my money.

my older brother had the same set of circumstances to you. he was with 2 other people when he did his and they had both ridden a bike before and my brother never had so like yourself barely got any time to practice. i think its probably cuz the instructors look at the pupils and if they see most are competent and getting on well they must just think "right then on the road we go".. and forgive me if i sound like i am taking the p*ss but you couldnt work out the steering on a scooter?
