  1. I don't post on here as much as I used to but that's only because I'm busy with other things  Same goes for actually riding!

I have looked on other forums but this one is easily the most friendly and I have learnt a lot from reading the threads on here so thanks! Next year I hope to get out more and maybe meet up with some of you guys and girls :)

  2. The first was due to my being stuck behind a stack of cars on a dual carriageway leading to a roundabout. The right lane was clear so I indicated and checked mirrors and it was clear. I started to move but as I did so a car came into view and went down the side of me so i stopped. Just bad timing I suppose but it obviously looked bad to him.

You don't mention a lifesaver. That and more observation in your mirrors when you were approaching the line of traffic would have helped prevent that. It might have been that he came out from behind the examiner but a good lifesaver would have shown that he was there. If you were to the left of your lane before deciding to take the right hand lane then I would have done two lifesavers, the first to cross the middle of your lane and again to cross the lines to enter the right hand lane.

I sort of get why the second instance was dangerous especially on a test I should have been careful. But perhaps I think that the real issue is that I was going too fast to begin with as to force me to make snap decisions I should go slower to allow more time to make my mind up.

Seems like you've answered this one yourself already :thumb:

  3. A couple of weeks ago I was riding past a layby with a guy selling honey. I've often thought I'd buy a jar to see what the taste would be in comparison to mass produced supermarket stuff...... and to also support a local bee keeping guy............. bought 2 jars and got talking to the guy who then tells me that he goes over the Eastern Europe regularly and brings back the stuff by the load!!!!!

So much for supporting businesses who produce stuff locally !!

I assume by "Eastern Europe" he actually meant East Anglia..? :seeya:

  4. We had a cellar in one of the married quarters in Germany,

full sized groundfloor lay-out and steps up to the back garden.

    It was marvellous! :D

We had the same when my Dad was stationed there. It was great, perfect place for a man-cave before the phrase man-cave was even thought of.. :thumb:

  5. The one complaint I had about my old GSXF was the lack of tarty up bits available for a decent price. I kept mine looking pretty standard apart from a double bubble screen and I colour coded (of sorts) the lower fairing. A Delkevic can was really the only non standard thing I fitted.

  6. Thanks, I may just give the Fire Brigade a ring

999: what service do you require?

    You: fire brigade please

    999: what's the emergency?

You: I've got a crusty old helmet I want to give to the nice firemen...

    999: pervert.... (hangs up)

Haha! I could just pop down the local station and calmly ask one of them if they would like to use my helmet..

  7. No! Not that helmet! I seem to have gathered a collection of old crash helmets that I no longer need/want. They are all decent condition but are passed their sell-by date. Any suggestions of what I can do with them, is there a specific place I can take them to be used/recycled or whatever? It just seems a waste to chuck them in the normal recycling or to take them down the dump.

  8. I'll echo what a lot of people have already said. Matt LeBlanc was pretty good although some of it seemed a bit wooden, I liked him when he was a guest on the old show, James Blunt impressed me then too  Chris Evans is OK in small doses on the Radio and I actually thought he would be quite good on TG. He has a real interest in cars and is a decent enough TV presenter but what was going on with his hair?!

I didn't like the false crowd interaction and they seemed to try and make it very American which just doesn't work over here, unlike the old show where there was genuine enthusiasm (or so it seemed) for the presenters. There was a natural rapport with the old 3 and although a lot would have been scripted, you got the impression that they really did get along as mates on a car show - some of the impromptu laughing between each other made the stunts/gags even more entertaining. I don't think we'll get that with this new set-up.

  9. That's a nice P51/D mate. Is that also a UH/1?

Thank's Mr B! Yeah it is, the Huey and as scale models go, it's huge! The rotor diameter is about 50cm..

The P51 is a 1/72 so a bit small for my liking but the plan is to have 5 of them on a display stand in formation flight. I've got all the kits, just need to build them!

  10. I guess I'm lucky that my main hobby is also my job but when I'm not doing that I like to make scale model kits, I'm currently working on a Mkii Spitfire, these are the last two I completed..808363044_2016-03-1012_56_22s.jpg.35ec7c98ab914ccfcc1f1d1121d84e7c.jpg892671958_2016-03-1013_03_04s.thumb.jpg.120e21cc0de8e33683193bdc2ed262ab.jpg1567542842_2016-03-3110_04_58a.thumb.jpg.073cd74b65abcf537569db545979ab83.jpg
