  1. I'm guessing the guy in the OP was doing a normal, run of the mill bimble about rather than giving it a decent rip.

He said it was a blast, not a bimble. I think that's the point. The mega bhp just isn't being used on their favourite roads, which I assume excludes motorways or roads with endless straights.

  2. I've got a Gidibi oiler thingy that I want to mount to the bike's frame, not the handlebar, which is the usual location.

It needs a bracket or clip that'll go round a thinish tube section - 1/2 inch or so - and I've been googling around for something to do the job, but no luck.

    Any suggestions?

  3. Just got the headset. Looks ok, and it connected easily to my phone. Only problem is the cable connecting the BT unit to the speakers, which has a break near the jack. I've asked for a replacement, but this is obviously a weakness.

Pity, as I quite like it otherwise. The speakers are smaller and less intrusive than others I've tried, one of which gave me a sore ear after a couple of hours on the bike.

Tried it again, and it works, so will have to withdraw my negative review! Only tested basic function, playing from Spotify, and I've discovered that I absolutely hate having music while riding a motorbike. Turned it off after two minutes.

Still, a cheap experiment, and I might try it out the OK Google for calls etc.

  5. This is the one I got, it’s still working...

Only coments it has its own charging cable, usb one end the other type specific.

Speakers and microphone are a little larger compared with my Cardo.

    Thanks. I've ordered. :thumb:

At that price, well worth a go...

  6. It arrived today fitted to old helmet easy enough, microphone a little large of helmet tight fit...

All functions seem to work paired to phone ok.

Not been tried on bike yet will see got it gets on.

I have used it afew times not works well for what it is Radio reception is poor, that could be partially due to a carbon helmet. Music is good to about 60mph. which is good enough enough for me.

To my surprise it does have a siri/ ok google button so those functions are available.

If your looking for 1 person headset and can fit slightly tighter speakers I would say its worth £20.

Got a link? Googled it but can't find.

  7. PM me your address, unless you live near south Staffordshire & want a brew somewhere here ish I'll be out on the bike Sunday morning :thumb:

    PM sent! :thumb:

I'm gonna try this option, [strikeout]because I'm a cheapskate, [/strikeout] in the interests of recycling. If it doesn't work out, no harm done and I'll take on board the advice of others , thanks. :D

  8. I swear by my Buffalo tankbag, its 15 years old & still great. It has a waterproof ' johnny ' bag that fits on it. So not waterproof on it's own though.

I saw a reasonable looking although smaller tankbag at Aldi once. In fact I have one if you want it for just the p&p ( & a vote for the mod gig  )

Thanks! If it's not in Lidl shocking pink, and not too small, I'll accept your kind offer, and of course vote for you, as I'm convinced you'd make an excellent mod.

  9. Cheap bags are not good and good bags are not cheap. SW Motech or Givi.

Thanks, but I'm not convinced by big brands like that. They might be a bit better, but most of the premium is in the marketing. I've seen so many 'quality' products fail the most basic tests, e.g. for staying dry.

As a dedicated cheapskate, I still believe it's possible to get decent gear cost-effectively.

  10. Not certain any one is reading my updates on this.

The Gidibi works by holding the oil in the to chamber by vacuum as you turn the unit it reduces the pressure and let more oil out on to the chain.

The build being quality Chinese I have found if the chain could do just a drop of oil for my commute to work wobbling the top breaks the vacume enough to allow a few drops into the chain..

    I'm reading them! :thumb:

I have a Gidibi on the way for weeks now, so any prior lessons will be very useful when/if it arrives.

  11. Hello 👋 whats up with the north of england? We have some amazing countryside and bike routes to ride 😬

Ireland is on our list so may well be bending your ear 🙂

Oops! Yes, of course. Yorkshire Dales should be on that list, at least. :D

I've been watching a lot of YouTube touring vids (too many), and it looks brilliant there.

Do ask if you want info on Ireland, though I am back to biking after a couple of decades out, and things have changed so much I sometimes get lost myself!
