  1. when you have got the pistons out and removed old seals check there is no dirt muck or anything in where the seals sit as this will stop new seal going in properly and piston will still bind i use a fine point scribe to make sure the seal area is all clear only takes couple of minutes for each piston
  2. if there is section of tank thats ower than the carbs it will need the pump to get fuel UP to the carb you should look on ebay and see if the pump on the honda revere/ntv650 is the same pump if you need to replace it
  3. easist way to make sure you are looking at the right part is follow the right lead from battery and it will connect directly to the solinoid normally by a 10mm nut holding it onto it then there will be another big wire held on by a 10mm nut going to starter motor it is across those two nuts that u ned to put screwdriver it will spark and engine should turn over if u hold it on for a second or two
  4. the lights only work while engine running quite normall on 6v bike
  5. next time it dooes this to you use a spanner or screwdriver across the 2 big terminals on the solinoid the wire from batery and the one going to starter motor it will spark but if engine turns over and starts then its the solinoid thats the problem
  6. can you turn the headlight on and indicators flash without the engine running then battery should be ok can you beg borrow or steal a volt meter to check battery condition and charging while engine running
  7. check the starter solinoid follow the red wire from the battery to the unit where it joins up to the wire leading to starter motor give it a tap with somethng fairly chunky.......big spanner will do press starter button as u do this as unit might be faulty
  8. put me down sounds worthwhile doing to me im in chatteris so meet anywhere as long as i know time
  9. you could have a coil pack breaking down when bike is hot does the engine turn over at same speed when it hot
  10. 10/40 sounds right to me as well and semi syn not fully as its not a performance engine
  11. they also made a dt80 which you can fit the barrel piston and head straight onto the bottom half of your engine you will need the carg as well if you go that route if yu only go wit exhaust and air filter you will need to up jet the carb and also adjust the needle height in the carb
  12. some yams from the 80's are also left hand thread on the offside/right hand mirror
  13. why not repair and keep it doesnt seem a lot to do to it you will need to find out what catogary insurance write off it is.........cat D........cat C just hope its not cat B as that means it cant go back on the road and is for spares only
  14. welding it up is not to hard a job you might have to make a few plates up to make sure you are back onto good metal dont try and do it all with just one piece of plate as once you get the first iece welded on you can then form new section off of that and work along to the other end where metal is still good..............not pretty but easy cure dont arc weld it as that will just blow holes in it use a good mig welder
